  • Mibbs, I worry that you were aware that if you got a good education you could also get a good job and you were like, ya know what, if we all just work overnight shifts at Walgreens, nobody will be too rich and everything will be fair and grand.

Seriously though, not that I wasnt serious before, I think you should give this up, it a bad argument.

    • I have a suggestion. What if the only resource that could be traded for a salary exemption were draft picks? If limited to 1st or 2nd round picks being cash eligible, it would force owners to decide whether or not they truely want to mortgage their future for the means to compete today. Just a thought....
This is a Dolphins town, though.

      • We're not imposing trade restrictions or forcing a person to trade a or b to get _____.

It's inherently unfair as people value things differently.

Aren't you arguing that people have the right to operate at the cap or 40 m under? With these rules, they have the right to give up their cap. You willingly take part in this trade, it's not like I take your cap room unknowingly. If you choose to trade me your 5 mil, you are making the calculated risk that you won't need the cap room to fix your inferior talent team.

I just want all the teams to have the same number to work with so this doesn't become an issue. It's not much of a problem now when everyone but one guy came in under cap but what about a couple "years" from now when our top players start making the big money and we get 6-7 teams doing it? The talent lebel becomes uneven with the higher talent.

With a set, rigid cap, it levels the playing field as a salary cap is supposed to. Whether a team chooses to play at the cap or $40 million under is up to the owner. I just don't want it to get to a point where half the 1/3 to 1/2 of the league are running with $80 million payrolls while the other 2/3 to 1/2 have teams with inferior talent and no cap room to fix it if they choose.
But those teams that give up the cap space would be gaining a valuable asset. You are so completely and far away missing the point.
