My point is not that anyone can't do it but really, while everyone can do it, only 11 people can do it at a time and that it creates imbalance in the league to have teams that are at the $80 million cap. I just want all the teams to have the same number to work with so this doesn't become an issue. It's not much of a problem now when everyone but one guy came in under cap but what about a couple "years" from now when our top players start making the big money and we get 6-7 teams doing it? The talent lebel becomes uneven with the higher talent.

With a set, rigid cap, it levels the playing field as a salary cap is supposed to. Whether a team chooses to play at the cap or $40 million under is up to the owner. I just don't want it to get to a point where half the 1/3 to 1/2 of the league are running with $80 million payrolls while the other 2/3 to 1/2 have teams with inferior talent and no cap room to fix it if they choose.
