@clarkspencer: #marlins trade Heath Bell and cash to Arizona in 3-team deal with A's in which Miami receives minor league infielder Yordy Cabrera from Oak
Wonder how much cash. But this is probably awesome. This is our World Series. |

He will probably be awesome for the Diamondbacks next season but who gives a shit. I'm assuming they are paying for a majority of his contract so that's money saved.

The D'backs exercised J.J. Putz's 2013 option earlier today too, so I wonder if Heath will be closing there either?

So the DBacks are going with a putz and then Putz at the back of their bullpen? Interesting.

Cabrera stinks, but the fact that they got rid of Bell and a good sum of his contract is great.

It is exactly what they offered to everyone in the league since July, just need a buyer
Cabrera was a big time prospect in the 2010 draft so maybe he can become something but as of right now he will be the starting 3B at Jupiter He is also playing in the AFL |

Was he known as a hitter? Doesn't look like it from his numbers.

Here was one of the Scouting Reports on him
http://www.bbprospectreport.com/2010...cabrera-report They got exactly what they wanted tho,Bell and his contract gone. Cabrera is just icing on the cake-if he finally puts it together we get more 3B depth and if not O well Last edited by tjfla; 10-20-2012 at 03:59 PM. |

If a player currently playing in the AFL is traded, does he have to switch to a different AFL team if they are affiliated with a different MLB team than the one he previously played for?

Luckily Oakland and Miami share the Phoenix Desert Dogs so he isn't changing any teams

The Marlins lead the league in unique first names.
But it was a trade to get rid of Bell. He basically talked his way out of Miami whether he'll admit it or not. Questionable signing when it was done, and an absolutely god awful result. It's amazing the D-Backs were willing to take on $13 million for the next two years of him, but there's still a slightly decent chance he could be a good set up man, as his second half numbers suggested. Sadly, this traded probably needed to happen. Coming up next on your Miami Marlins pregame show, the Yordy and Gorkys Show! |

But at least there's less salary tied up into this shitty team.
