I fully expect Coghlan to be on the team 10 years from now. Yes.

A 15-year/$300 million contract for Coghlan is coming in the offseason.

Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't.

It depends on how much you think their avg performance long term will deviate from this sample size.

As bad as I think this team is, I think you can very reasonably say that the entire regular outfield is OPS-ing about .800 combined points lower than what we expected on the low end of their projections, just for example. I think these 13 games are not indicative of the team's true talent level, even if that true talent level is still really, really, really, really low.

                  How about the starting pitching?

I was mostly talking about the offense.

But I would say the offense probably has more regression to come than the pitching right now.
                    --------------------
Slowey, Nolasco and Fernandez are pitching over their heads right now, but nobody else, either in the pen or rotation is.

Offensively, you could make a really good argument that Polanco and Dobbs and maybe Hechavarria (depending on how low you were on him) are the only players who are close to playing to expectations offensively.

3/5 of the rotation is playing over their heads, and 5/8 of the lineup is hitting below expectations. That seems like it could even out to me.

There's also a bullpen. And a bench. Neither of which is over performing.

Do you actually think this is the team's true talent level?

You can't have a good season when your hurt.

I don't feel like the bullpen is underperforming, though. The bench is negligible. They aren't much worse then the turds we actually have on the field.
