He's got a great Donovan Solano like career ahead of him. Gotta fast track that.

No reason to mention Ozuna being too good for the minors. We all know why he's down there. It's at least nice that he isn't half assing it.

Nicolino with a very Nicolino start.

I went to look up Matt Tomshaw's stats this season after seeing that start and all I could see was how cross eyed he is in his milb picture. He's pretty much a filler player at the moment.

Haven't mentioned Ben Holmes (the artist formerly known as Wetzler) in a little bit. Only two starts so far but Jupiter is treating him a lot nicer than Greensboro (as happens with every pitcher). If he pitches well I'd like to see him in Jax by June.

I still like Romero, but his season is god awful in Jupiter (for reasons explained last sentence). If he can't hit for even a little sliver of power he has absolutely no future in the majors outside of a utility/bench role. While usually you'd have a guy repeat after a year like he's having, I want him up to Jax just to get him out of that league.

I'm so disappointed in this farm system. I'll say it a thousand times but it needs to be said. Excluding Ozuna obviously, we don't have a hitter who even has a chance at being major league ready for three years at least (with the rule that once you hit 26 years old you are no longer a "prospect" to follow imo, so that excludes the Brady Shoemaker's of the world).

EDIT: Forgot to add Justin Twine. He's boosted his OPS a whole 27 points since July 24th to .521! Congratulations on getting your OPS over .500 kid. Maybe someday you can become as great as that Mario Mendoza guy.

Yes. Sadly this isn't 2010 when the system had Stanton/LoMo at the top with guys like Cishek, Ramos, Ozuna, Koehler, Sanchez down at the bottom of the system. Those were interesting times.

Now I'm finding myself having to talk about the 23 year old college pitcher who posted a 5+ ERA in Gboro getting called up the Jupiter and the top 40 draft pick who hits as well in the minors as Mathis does in the majors. But hey, I still follow because I'm an addict. I need help. We all need help.

I'm choosing to enjoy the one positive offensive thing happening in the upper half of our system right now.

U can't look at stats in Jupiter anymore. Pitchers look great and hitters don't(Well in our system)

As for JT Riddle,he probably would love to be the next Donovan Solano. Play like crap but stick around the majors for 3 years.

Solano has been a solid bench player, up until this season. His bat sucked, but he was an adequate defensive replacement. Its when the team forced him into the lineup his numbers declines even more. But also, Riddle's career minor league numbers look better than Solano's.

Marlins-related Minor League transactions, c/o Baseball America:

-Former Marlins P Jose Veras was released by the Astros organization. He pitched for then-Florida in 2010. This year, he posted a 5.68 ERA in AAA.

-The Marlins signed RHP Tucker Simpson out of Troy as a non-drafted free-agent. He played at Chipola College in Florida before transferring to Troy, where he notched an 8.86 ERA in eight games. After a brief stop in GCL, he's now on Jupiter's roster.

Nice start by Lilek. Ozuna went 0-4. He's gone till next season.

First Lilek has been allowed to go beyond 3 innings. He has two awful starts, one where he allowed a single run, and five where he's allowed none. He seems to strike out people decently. Definitely worth following the rest of the year.

Chris Paddack now with a 1.67 ERA in his 27 IP in the GCL. 24 K's to 4 BB's. 8th round pick this past draft right out of high school. He's 6'6 and a Texas righty, so you know the Marlins love him. Scouts said he had a first round tool set but, like most high school kids drafted, doesn't have any serious off speed pitches yet. If everything goes right, Paddack could be everything that we hoped (and still faintly hope) Kolek would be. This isn't even Batavia so obviously a lot of projecting here. But the few things I've seen video wise and the numbers look good, just need to iron out a few kinks in the mechanics.

Been since April that I've mentioned Brian Anderson. Good game but man has he had problems in Jupiter. I was hoping for a .700 OPS at least in Jupiter (again Jupiter sucks for hitters). Last season in GBoro was sudden and promising so I still think he can produce when called up to Jax.
