  • his perceived velocity is what made him dominant, and it's largely a result of his delivery.

take away the delivery and his perceived velocity declines.

now you've got an upper 90s guy with a decent off-speed offering and decent control.

    talented, yes. world-beater, no.

I don't think we'd be saying this if he didn't get hurt.

        • I was saying it before the deadline, so.

Heck, Bobbob was saying he should be traded before the deadline because of his injury risk.

            • I'm more upset about trading Ramos. He was at peak value.

Look at his first half vs second half splits. Second half, he's been the guy throughout his entire career. A guy with bad control. First half he was amazing, second half he's been his career line outside of allowing more HRs. But his xFIP of 4.07 is basically what his career is at. Compared to one of 2.77 in the first half.

Oh well. Still a good reliever to have.

The Royals made the bullpen a strength but they didn't have a black hole of a rotation; they had 5 starters who all made 25 or more starters had a WAR > 1 and only started 7 pitchers all year. The Yankees have 5 starters with a WAR > 1. The Marlins have 3 starters this year with a WAR > 1; it is just too big of a weakness to compete and Loria is too cheap to bring in the right pieces to fill the hole.

                  • They kept Ramos for the right reason.

Keep Stanton happy. I was ok with that.

Everything else is mick mouse. Gotta throw Stanton a bone.

Solano too important to take out of course.

                              • You cannot take out Solano when he's grinding out there, attempting for his -1.0 fWAR
