Marlins-related Minor League transactions, c/o Baseball America, for July 18-24:

-As noted elsewhere, OF Gorkys Hernandez was traded to Kansas City for SS Alex McClure. Hernandez is 5-for-21 for KC's AAA club since the trade.
-Former Marlin farmhand P Claudio Vargas (signed as a NDFA by the Fish all the way back in 1995) was released by the Blue Jays organization.

-The Marlins released a trio of players: P Jordan Conley, P Scott Maine, and OF Eddie Sappelt. Conley had a few really nice years in the minors in relief. Not sure what happened this year, as he has spent time in Jupiter, Jax, and New Orleans. Maine had a 9.35 ERA in 11 games with the Zephyrs this season, then disappeared for a while and came back with the GCL club (rehabbing maybe?) and didn't give up an earned run in nine appearances. Sappelt was another Rookie Leaguer, who was 7-of-16 at the plate this season with 10 walks and one strikeout.

They just kept him down so he wouldn't be a super 5.

Hand will likely be given another chance in the big leagues soon. From what I have heard, the team is still high on him.

                            trade Polanco, call up Kouzmanoff

platoon him at 3rd with Lucas

                            one time, common

It's weird that he is mashing righties so well. He has a career .246 avg vs RHP as opposed to .279 against lefties.

He needs to be the one to replace Fernandez in the rotation. Hand will be out of options next season so they need to figure out what they wanna do with him.
