  • Postgame: How Great Was Jose Fernandez Tonight in the Marlins 9-0 Win Over the Braves?

    Pretty freaking great.
    --------------------
A few game balls handed out:

    Fernandez (obvi)
    Lucas (lol Dobbs)
    Saulty
    Stanton
Ozuna (hit the ball hard a lot)

How many pitches did Jose have when they pulled him? I went
    to pour a drink.
    --------------------
Jose just got double facialed by Alvarez and Ozuna in the post game interview with our not hot token female sideline reporter

He appeared slightly visibly upset after they yanked him, no?

If he has a 15 pitch 9th, he hits 113 pitches.

But, yeah, it would be awkward to pull him in the middle of the 9th if there was still work to be done.

Just realized it was NINE to zero.

Right? April game with a 9 run lead. No reason to send him back out there.

yeah like it'd have been cool to see him get the CG shutout but also there's really no reason for it. in a 1-0 or 2-0 game i consider it

Ed Lucas is the next generation of Utility Infielder that I'm a hugh fan of. Carrying on the legacy of Kurt Abbott, Mike Mordecai, and Alfredo Amezaga.

So is Jose set to start Sunday? Because I'd love for him to pitching the game I'm set to go to.

Ed Lucas does remind me of Mordecai, and I say that because they're both white.

Ed Lucas is 31, he's not the next generation of anything.

Mike Mordecai was 34 when he joined the Marlins.

Yes, he is. Should be Eovaldi (Wednesday) Alvarez (Thursday) Koehler (Friday) Turner (Saturday) and Jose on Sunday.

                            :D

That's my face after hearing that. A friend of mine has season tickets really close to behind home plate and has two extra tickets so me and my dad can come along with them (I just got home from UCF today). I was looking forward just to see a Marlins game live. To hear it's a Fernandez start is awesome. If it's Kershaw vs. Fernandez, WOW. The only game I've been to where I've ever been awestruck at the pitching matchup was back in 2004 when I saw a Dontrelle Willis vs. Randy Johnson (back when he was a D-Back) game live. Kershaw/Fernandez would far surpass that.
                            --------------------
EDIT: Didn't see Kershaw was hurt. Dodgers have enough good starting pitching that any matchup with Jose will be fun.

Kershaw won't be off the DL until next week against Washington.
