        Bingo.

On a personal level, Stanton going to the Yankees will make me vomit. Especially if we sacrifice talent coming back to save money.

        Why am I saying “we”?

New ownership has handled the Stanton situation comically bad. You can defend their motives but their execution is awful.

It’s unfortunate that the Marlins are playing the big draw Cubs on Opening Day because the new ownership deserves 3,000 people in the stands that day

The #Yankees are asking the #Marlins to take on their bad contracts. Sorry, #Marlins not remotely interested
I think a lot of this noise is just that. I'll be surprised if they take on Ellsbury. Any other salary wouldn't be a problem as they could easily trade Robertson, Gardner, Castro, even Headley, if any came back.

Yankees have a lot of arms though so we'll see.

              • yankees have tried to foist ellsbury on miami as an offset, but marlins are not agreeing to that one. castro or headley are seen as more likely at this point. they are working on it.

                Seems about right.

Here too. Remember when he came up pretty much same week as Stanton. They might just ship him off next week though too. I hope not I think he still has another breakout in him. And Perry Hill will make him better at 2b.

                    • Not Stanton news. But Mike Hill is working on Ozuna trade with St Louis while Denbo deals with Stanton. So we could have another trade by Monday

Miami left-hander Scott Squier was penalized 50 games after a second positive test for a drug of abuse. He was on the roster of Triple-A New Orleans

Rival execs expect the #StLCards to make a legit pitch for #Marlins Marcell Ozuna or Christian Yelich now that the Stanton ship has sailed. It's more of a pure baseball trade and probably more in John Mozeliak's comfort zone anyway.

Pure baseball trade as in doesn't have to worry about $ or getting a princess to OK it. Agree to deal/check medicals and done

Stanton's not a princess. dont do that. he earned a NTC and exercised his rights. Loria and co were foolish enough to give him that power.

                          • you guys are both off base. stanton's not a princess for using the power he had in his deal, and past ownership wasn't foolish to give him that power as he would have been long gone by now if they hadn't given it to him.

It all goes back to how Loria's treated guys who signed big contracts in the past. I mean, Stanton was here, he saw what happened to Reyes, Buerhle, JJ etc. He's not stupid. If this was an organization that conducted itself with any type of class or dignity over the past 10 years Stanton probably doesn't ask for the NTC.
