  • Postgame: Marlins Fall In Extra Innings To Giants

First reality check of the season for me; good teams don't lose that kind of game: inexplicably leading a game they had no business being in only to slow bleed it to death.

Good teams lose games all sorts of ways in a long season. I don't think we are all that much of a good team, but I've seen good teams lose in lots of shitty ways

It's not a "season over" statement. It's more of me agreeing that we're not that good. Not bad, but not that good.

        Maybin continues to suck.

This game was a microcosm of this team. Hang in there for most of the season, win in unexpected ways and fizzle out in end as all the roster [payroll] related holes are exposed.

I think it's probably too early to tell what kind of team we are, but I agree our play has been lacking.

            I agree with this.

Let's remember that at one point in May last season, we were 19-25 (I think) and had gone 8-24 over a 32-game stretch where we were losing games in seemingly every way possible, yet we turned out to be a pretty solid team.

Pretty solid team that failed to make the playoffs.

Because them not making the playoffs has everything to do with my statement. You can be a good team and not make the playoffs.

Then I don't consider us a solid team.

I wasn't aware solid = playoffs. I always perceived solid to be above average. I suppose it's in the eye of the beholder.

Solid team in my opinion is defined as one with few weak areas, if any. The Marlins do not fall in that category for me right now.

Fair enough. I've always used it differently.

I've always used it to refer to a state of matter.

As someone with a Bachelor's of Science degree with a minor in Biomechanics, I can attest that the players on the team perform by utilizing three states of matter.
