Only reason I wouldn't trade Cogs is that if he's gone, next year's infield is going to look pretty putrid with Cantu gone and Uggla likely dealt.

Yes he does need to come back to the infield but we all the know the front office isn't doing that.

We know that the FO isn't doing that so long as Uggla is at 2B. We don't know the FO's long term plan at 2B, but considering how they've seemingly soured on Boner, it could absolutely involve Cogs coming back to 2B. And even if Cogs isn't plus defensively at 2B (he likely won't be), his .775ish OPS with solid OBP makes him pretty valuable as an infielder.

Same shit happened with Cabs, where he played out of position in LF until Lowell was moved.
