Timing would be odd if they had just called him up and sent someone down, but they lost one of their best bats to injury. Makes perfect sense.

He's more likely to make an impact than anyone else down there.

Based on what? He had a pretty awesome spring training a year ago and did really well in ClassA, but he wasn't very good in AA last year and he's been even worse in AAA. Lucky his recent 6 for 18 pulled his OPS into the 700s because it was like .620 on Monday.

He's done nothing to show he's ready for the show.

Hanley had a .720 OPS in AA and then was handed the SS job and won ROY.

I just don't see the harm in it. They'll send him back to AAA if he's in over his head...and what if he's not?
