Merandy Gonzalez continues to dominate in single A. Can't wait to see how he does in the jump to AA next season.

One thing thats a little worrisome though is that he is not striking very many guys out. While he still looks likely to become a nice potential pitcher, we need a few pitchers with swing and miss stuff, especially in 2017 baseball.. Hopefully he can have a little higher k rate next year.

Only one recent minor league transaction: Signed as a NDFA, C Igor Baez out of Flagler (Fla.). A career .300 hitter in college, he was assigned to GCL.

Looking at Brian Miller's splits, one worrisome thing is that in a very limited sample size against lefties he has been terrible. Only 58 AB's but a .483 OPS and a 10/0 K/BB ratio. He might be a platoon guy long term if he cant improve upon that but its still obviously very early in his career.

I suppose, but Luis Castillo didn't have a great K rate last year either (really at any level until this season), so hopefully it'll be something that Merandy develops as well.

Man Castillo has been pitching like a bonafide #2 at just 24 years old. Team really gave away a golden ticket there.

GCL season ends today and Matt Givin threw again

Ends the season with a 0.39 in 23 innings. A guy to keep an eye on

Yeral Encarnacion also hit his 5th HR this year. Will be 20 next year and is 6'4 220

Interested what they do with these guys next year

yup. if we had just not traded any of our prospects for what we thought were established players wed have an entire rotation with really good talent.

obviously very small sample, but from what we've seen from this past years draft we might have done pretty well.

Sam Perez destroyed Batavia this year. 13 starts, 1.88 ERA. He was previously used as a reliever in GBoro so maybe the switch to starter was a revelation for him.

Speaking of guys who did well this year, Ben Meyer with a 1.98 ERA in Jupiter over 82 IP. His strikeout to walk ratio is a ridiculous 94 to 17. Team has to eventually decide if he's a reliever or a starter, but he's been great in both roles.
