Rojas has a .365 OBP this year. I have a hard time saying he's been a hole.

I wouldnt say that either. He's been really solid this year, and if he is our starting SS next year i'd be OK with it, I guess, but I also think we can get better total production from a middle infield of Prado/Dee than Dee/Rojas. Also, Rojas has a career .618 OPS and .305 OBP, making me think he is more of a small sample size than realistic production.

It's also by far the most consistent playing time he's gotten in his major league career, though. His whole career has been a small sample size.

20th Rd Pick Matt Givin looking great in GCL. Maybe they try and push him to GBoro next year?

Another interesting arm is Elkin Alcala. Started the year in DSL but is 20 already

Plus Mattingly likes the glove. He is fine with Rojas hitting light as long as the glove plays.

Rojas,DD,Riddle would all get looks at 2B before Prado. Prado's positions if still around are likely 3B/1B

Still way to early to talk about this. The roster will likely change alot by 1/1/2018

Also true, I just think ideally you go out and get a starter or put the better bat in the lineup and then when the injuries inevitably hit you have quality depth instead of JT riddle being called up the second there is a middle infield injury. It is not illegal to have quality depth.

            Also, in 2615 MILB Ab's Rojas has a .309 OBP and a .620 OPS.
            In 626 MLB AB's Rojas has a .305 OBP and a .618 OPS.

Good teams would make that a utility bat with a glove like he has and do everything possible not to have him as plan A opening day starter.

Minor league transactions for the 5th-11th, c/o Baseball America:

-tj has already chronicled the signing of LHP Carlos Diaz.

-Three releases within the organization. First, RHP Patrick Johnson. He was on AA Jacksonville's roster. In Jacksonville last year, he compiled an 8-7 record and 3.31 ERA in 21 starts. This year, it appears he has been injured and pitched just 1/3 of an inning for GCL.
-C Bryan de la Rosa was also cut. A former 3rd round pick of the Braves, de la Rosa hit .184 in 12 combined games between Batavia and Greensboro this year.
-Finally, OF Dexter Kjerstad was let go. Dex played a full season in Jupiter last year, hitting just .227. This year, he hit .208 between Jupiter and New Orleans.

Poteet is a blah prospect. Reminds me of so many good results, average-below average stuff guys that we have had. Trevor Richards deserves a promotion too. What else does he have left to prove?
