Oh hi Ethan Clark (the pitcher we received in the Hechavarria trade). That's a nice start you got there. Hope you reach Jupiter before the end of the year.

James Nelson continuing a solid 2017 campaign. Very interested to see how he handles Jupiter.

LBJ continuing success in the GCL.

Back to back starts with 4 ER allowed for Richards. Still a pretty 9 K/0 BB line. A bit annoyed he'll be 25 years old early into next season and he's only at AA. Really wish he was 18/19/20 and doing this.

Mason Davis now with a .925 OPS in Jupiter, this after a .675 OPS in Greensboro. Mentioned it before but never have seen anything like that.

Brian Anderson doing well to start his AAA career (5 for his first 17). He should be the kind of hitter who succeeds from NOLA and its hitter friendly confines.

I thought New Orleans was a pitcher friendly park as opposed to the rest of the PCL.

Richards entered the 7th with only 2 runs allowed, then left with 2 on and not outs in the 7th, so the pen actually gave up 2 of those runs.

Seeing Dillon Peters back pitching is such a relief. Seeing that he pitched so well in his return is just the cherry on top.

I didn't realize how bad Stone Garrett had been this year until I checked his stat line after that home run. Wow I don't remember seeing a full season that bad (outside of Twine).

Brian Anderson now 9 for 24 to begin his AAA career. If he keeps it up long term he'll make it easier for the team to move on from Prado.

Only two transactions for the Marlins in their minor league system between the 10th and the 17th of July:

-Signed was LHP Jared Lakind, who had been released by the Pirates organization on July 7th. A 23rd round pick of the Pirates in 2010, Lakind didn't start pitching until 2013. He carried a 6.81 ERA in 35.2 innings at AA this year for Pittsburgh, but he's currently on Greensboro's roster for the Marlins.

-Released was SS Rehiner Cordova. Originally signed in 2010, Cordova played 10 games in AA this year. Last year for Jupiter, he hit just .165 in 139 at-bats.

Well it's no surprise the Astros trade is the biggest L the Marlins front office has taken. Moran killed AAA and looks like a future starting 3B, Marisnick has emerged into an .800+ OPS player at the major league level, and Francis Martes is 21 years old and pitching at the major league level already.

For us, Jarred Cosart is now a bad pitcher for the Padres, Kike Hernandez is an average utility player for the Dodgers, and Austin Wates retired after 2015. It's hard to make a more one-sided deal.

                    - - - - - - - - - -

Boo Vazquez with a solid start to Jupiter. He seems to have solid contact ability as well as a decent eye for the plate. .820 OPS in Jupiter to start so far. Might be an outfielder to keep an eye on long term. 24 years old.

Brian miller has shown lots of potential thus far in Greensboro. decent speed, doesnt strike out a lot, and has shown decent power. Brian anderson should be opening day 3b next year, too.
