Gonna take a quick second to mention that Luis Castillo, one of our top prospects last season and a pitcher traded in the Dan Straily deal, made his major league debut tonight. Went 5 innings, 2 ER allowed. I like Straily but team may definitely regret giving up Castillo given the amount of potential he has (and how much he's grown in just a few years).

Also lebron still killing the DSL. OPS now over .900 in 59 ABs. Almost as exciting as when Stonecipher was a real prospect.

Good to see Richards go over 5 innings in his first AA start. Given the call up he's now a legitimate guy to pay attention to as a future major league call up within the next year.

The DSL actually has a few nice prospects(stat wise) who are still very young 16-18. This is one thing that alot of people miss about the DSL if u are over 18 u shouldnt be in the league. Omar Lebron plays LF/1B OPS over 900,2 HR and 10SB already.

IF Richards pitches well in Jax can be a legit guy when we rebuild. Might be 24 but not many miles on his arm

Koehler should probably take Nicolino's slot soon. I don't know if he's a better option, but he's probably at that point that he should be back in the majors.

            - - - - - - - - - -

Brian Anderson with an OPS over .800 now in AA. He's never had that breakout minor league season but he's fairly consistent. Definitely a major league bench option at the very least not too far down the line.

Barrett and Jeff Kinley to AA(5 pitchers still in A Ball who should be moved up but hey its a start)
Mason Davis and Vazquez to Jupiter
Mahan and Miller start in GBoro but Joe Dunand is already on 7Day DL(Probably pulled a muscle jumping for joy when he got $1.2 million because he is ARods nephew and couldn't believe it)

Dont worry instead of releasing all the career minor league arms they have been hoarding, they just moved them down a level. Guess idea is the 26 yr old who looks like crap in High A will look better in Low A?

Haven't written about Michael King a bit. He's an interesting guy in the fact that he doesn't strike out many people at all but he also doesn't allow all that many base runners. Take out his three worst starts this season and his ERA in Greensboro would be an absolutely ridiculous 1.43. Yeah that's right a 1.43 ERA. He's also just 22 years old and won't turn 23 until May of next year. If he can improve his ability to strike out batters even a tiny bit he'd be a legitimate prospect to follow in baseball not just the Marlins. He's got all the tools to be successful.

Hernandez with 2 home runs in his first 3 minor league at-bats. That's pretty cool.

Oh hey a Cody Poteet sighting. Sucked the injury took away the momentum he was building but the fact he'll be back before the end of this season is a major positive.

Adam Conley really isn't helping his case for a return to the majors. Has to be a confidence thing because mechanically he had all the makings of a solid #3 pitcher not that long ago.
