Well just about everybody dies once they reach Jupiter. We just lack any real production from hitters this year that Woods is the only legitimate prospect doing well regardless of whats to be expected in the future. Romero needed a breakout season and he's just been a dud.

The big surprise with Woods has been the revelation that he's a gaps power hitter moreso than a pure Stanton style power hitter.

I wish we had other decent hitting prospects to follow this season...but Woods is the only real breakout. Mason Davis, Avery Romero, and Brian Anderson were three guys other than Woods I noted to follow before the season and they all didn't produce. No real surprise breakout candidates either.

Our farm system is really frustrating to follow knowing there aren't many if any potential major league hitters there.

Alex Fernandez has made it to Jupiter already, so that's something.

I was going to make a former Marlin Alex Fernandez joke only to realize that is actually his son. That's cool I guess.

.307/.373/.493 with 3 bombs is nice, but the 31 K is not.

KJ Woods with 6 HR's his last 8 games. 8 HR's since he came back from suspension near the start of July. That power is finally starting to materialize. 36 of his 76 hits this year are XBH's.

Tyler Kolek just can't fully hit that stride. A good start or two followed by some not so good starts seems to be the norm so far.

Stone Garrett continues to hit in Batavia. Once and starting OF spot opens up in Greensboro he'll get his opportunity there.

Riddle is off to a .297/.330/.426 start (101ab) in Jacksonville.

He might have a big league future as a utility infielder.

The fact that I felt it necessary to note a guy in AA might be able to make it to the majors as a utility infielder really sums up how god damn shitty our system is.

That 28% strikeout rate though is scary. Though Stanton did have a similar strikeout rate at that level. But of course, Stanton had even more power than Woods.

Naylor back at it and still hitting. Love it. I'm probably way too excited about him because he's so young. I really hope he works out.

Hey Mason Davis is hitting a little again. .769 OPS in July after sub .700 OPS' throughout the season. He's already surpassed expectations of a 19th round pick just by breaking out of Batavia as quickly as he did so not too much worry about his progression.

Conley now has a 2.52 ERA on the season in what has historically been a hitter's paradise. At 25 years old it's pretty much now or never on making an impact in the majors. Not sure about his future as a starter but he could definitely make a successful long relief option. I'm confident he'll find a role with the major league squad very soon.

I hope Naylor explodes. We (the fans, not the franchise) deserve something good to happen.
