Everything I've read is that Hoffman has looked good since returning from Tommy John. I believe his first couple of starts were rough, but since then he's looked solid.

Looks like if Toronto wants Ramos this is who they will be asking for. When Toronto was asking about Cishek at the meetings,Miami kept asking for Norris OR Hoffman in return and were told no.
They should hook the Blue Jays up with everybody if they can get someone like Daniel Norris. Ramos, Prado, and Cishek no problem. I'm serious, as that also saves the team close to $20 million dollars combined 15/16 payroll. Literally around that much. I bet they could get some projectable arms in A ball too. Blow it all out to save money and get 1 awesome guy.

Big lefty possible frontline #2 SP? Perfect guy to match with Fernandez.

Move Latos, Haren, and Dunn for young 3B prospects and save more cash, and buy another SP in free agency.

Never happen, but a name like Daniel Norris is exciting if they can leverage assets to get him. Hoffman is still a bit scary for me so soon after surgery.

Toronto is pretty much a perfect match

        SP-Norris/Hoffman/Boyd
        1B-Tellez
        3B-Mitch Nay/Andy Burns

For those that spent a week crying when we missed out on Shields, might start dancing. Looks like SD has put him on the market

Trade Haren/Latos/Prado for stuff. Then call up SD and see if they like Urena/Flores/Trevor Williams or someone?

Why would we want to pick up Shields backloaded contract when there is a good amount of pitchers available in free agency this year and there is absolutely no chance of competing this year.

Infielder Don Kelly has a significant tear in his elbow and is probably heading toward Tommy John Surgery. Henderson Alvarez will make a rehab start with High-A Jupiter on Sunday, July 12. Assuming Alvarez has no set backs, if he made four rehab starts, that would put him starting for the Marlins August 1st.

Fixed to reflect actual Marlins' thought process.

Pittsburgh been scouted Haren. Gotta think they would like Latos too.

                  Also from MLBTR

•Speaking of the Marlins, former closer Steve Cishek is drawing interest despite his difficult season and mechanical issues. The Twins, Tigers, Blue Jays, Red Sox, and other clubs have been keeping an eye on the 29-year-old.

Boston and Toronto wanted him at the Winter Meetings. Tigers/Twins have also been scouting our SP-Latos/Haren/Hand/Koehler

First trade of many is Grant Dayton to LAD for Chris Reed

Chris Reed is an arm they liked and tried to get in a few deals. LHP who can be SP or RP however control is terrible

Hey atleast they are trying to get talent that could help. The more LHP in the system the more likely they get rid of Hand and Dunn.

It is like the IFA Cash. Teams are fighting with each other trying to get more cash to sign players while we have spent probably $250,000

What would you guys think about Latos and Cishek to Chicago for OF Billy McKinny, catcher Victor Cartini and a OK pitching prospect?

Does it bother anyone else that this is the kind of player they like?

Think they should take that in a second but doubtful they would get that. If the Cubs said McKinney,Caratini and Corey Black the FO should dance. I would take Corey Black and Christian Villanueva or even Olt for Cishek and say Jeff Baker

What kind of player? An arm with potential that if they work on his mechanics could help us?

It is a Carter Capps type thing. Clean up his mechanics and who knows?

Yeah, he's just like Carter Capps. Putting up 10+ K/9's year after year in the minors with a full season of MLB ball at 3.56 xFIP before we traded for him.

                                Just like him.
