  • Ugh . . . Pending Fire Sale Before July 31

Unfortunately, it's looking like their may be another fire sale in South Florida. My guess on who will be wearing a different uniform by August 1:

    1. Mat Latos - has underachieved.
    2. Michael Morse - didn't provide the protection needed for Stanton in the lineup.
    3. Mike Dunn - this one's a maybe. He's been hot and cold. Personally, I hope he stays.
    4. Steve Cishek - this is also a maybe. Hope he stays as well.
    5. Martin Prado - great veteran presence, but the Fish can cut his salary and replace him with Rojas or Dietrich.
    6. Dan Haren - I hope they keep him, he's probably one of our better pitchers but it might come down to a salary dump.

Is it still considered a firesale if you don't trade anyone good?

      Exactly.

Don't forget one of Koehler/Phelps, Baker, Ichiro, and if you get something awesome Ramos.

This would be a GOOD thing, not a fire sale. They just have to reinvest in SP.

      Get a young 3B
      Get more young pitching
      clear payroll
Use said payroll and sign an ace (Greinke, Cueto, etc.) next year and still have a bottom 3 payroll which should be ok for papa loria

      Fernandez, Greinke/Cueto, Alvarez, Cosart, Nicolino

None of those 5 SP are currently in the Marlins rotation (Haren, Latos, Koehler, Phelps, Urena). That's how you get radically better overnight, and you can keep your 6/7/8 SP (Koehler/Phelps, Hand, Urena) in the bullpen which is just awesome.

I wish they would trade one of Ramos or Capps. That could get them the 3B of the future, if a team overpays enough.

Toronto and Miami would match up great however not sure u can say Josh Donaldson and future together. Plus seems like they consider him untouchable

But ya less fire sale and More Get Rid Of Crap and get Ready for 2016 sale. Only 1 on that list that should be kept is Prado and thats because cheap and no one to replace him.

Haren/Latos/Koehler or Phelps/Hand/Dunn/Cishek/Morse/Baker/Ichiro get rid of them all and bring the young guys up and get ready for 2016

Here are the top 10 third base prospects according to MLB.com:

            Joey Gallo, Texas
            Miguel Sano, Minnesota
            DJ Peterson, Seattle
            Maikel Franco, Philadelphia
            Rafael Devers,Boston
            Ryan McMahon, Colorado
            Garin Checchini, Boston
            Colin Moran, Houston
            Rio Ruiz, Atlanta
            Eric Jagielo, New York (AL)

Out of all of those, I would guess that Devers, Chcchini, McManon and maybe Peterson are all obtainable if the Marlins would trade one of Urena or Nicolino in a deal.
            LHP Chad James-Jupiter Hammerheads-

            5-15 3.80 ERA (27 starts) 149.1IP 173H 63ER 51BB 124K

                    That won't happen...Tino.

Parting with Urena and Nicolino for a top prospect shouldn't stop any deal from happening. The FO shouldn't see them as untouchable as they're easily replaceable.

And as previously stated, this doesn't resemble a fire sale as the only pieces who are actually a loss who could potentially be on the block are relievers (only Ramos is a serious loss from potential names being thrown around) and Prado (which may not be a big loss if you're high on Dietrich/Rojas).

                      .670 ops in AA

DJ Peterson has been even worse.

Austin Meadows the only other name we were really linked too, right? He's doing pretty good for a 20yo in the FSL.

For what was supposed to be a loaded 3B class, Bryant's the only one that looks like he'll be anything.

Morosi says Detroit is looking at our SP. Well we know how those trades work out for us!

Well looks like we will have to trade someone.

                            From ESPN

Two years ago, Marlins fan Beth Fedornak was playfully bitten by Bob the Shark, a foam-rubber mascot at Marlins Park during a between-innings stunt. She immediately felt pain in her neck and since then has paid $86,000 in medical expenses.

In other words, she wants $86,000 plus pain and other crap($200,000 let us say) and Bob the Shark is being served at the concession stand. She must not realize who the owner is

The San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics scouted Jeff Hoffman, who pitched for Single-A Dunedin, according to Rosenthal

Looks like if Toronto wants Ramos this is who they will be asking for. When Toronto was asking about Cishek at the meetings,Miami kept asking for Norris OR Hoffman in return and were told no.
