Was it you who recommended trading him for a #3 SP. I'm totally in this camp right now and it doesn't have to do with me thinking he can't develop it's about the odds he develops into better than a #3 to begin with. Most likely he gets a feel for a 2nd pitch and ends up in the bullpen long term. I have a problem with drafting a guy who has a plus fastball and nothing else in the first round, let alone with the second pick. What was Josh Beckett like when he was drafted (too far back for me to remember)? I find it hard to believe he was that similar to Kolek considering he was a September callup the following year and started in the majors rotation in April 2 years after being drafted (Beckett was older but also signed later in the year).

Wittgren probably is now the closer of the future since Matt Ramsey has fallen into a wormhole(If anyone knows why he has been out since March 17 please inform us) but Wittgren would still be in AA if not for that.

We actually have 3 guys who could close-Capps,Wittgren and Ramsey(if he comes back)

I do know 2 things about Wittgren tho-He loves cute baby animal pics and he looks like a 1980's closer. 1 ugly dude!!!

Someone here did. I think cashing him in now is a good idea.

I think it was Swifty's idea.

So you trade him for young guy who could be a number two starter, much like the Reds did when they acquired Mat Latos a few years ago. At that point, Latos was in his pre-arbitration years.

Reds gave up 4 players in that deal and none of them are similar to Kolek.

Yeah, a comparable trade would be Realmuto, Kolek (two top 100 prospects), Witigren (good RP spec), and Koehler or Phelps (MLB starter in arbitration).

And that's still not as good (Grandal and Alonso were more top 50 prospects and Volquez had more upside than Koehler/phelps)

If we could get something decent for Kolek, Nicolino, Wittgren (or some MLB RP arm), and Koehler/Phelps, that'd be nice. A lot of pitching depth for whoever would bite.

I wouldn't expect it to get much good though since it's not all that good of depth...

Well trading Realmuto isn't an option.
I think trading Kolek and one of Ramos/Koehler/Phelps makes a lot of sense. Or adding Prado and Haren (assuming deadline).
