I mean he's the exact kind of pitcher we like. Outside of a two year really bad stretch in 2011/2012 he's been pretty good, and he strikes out a solid amount while walking few. Big key for him is that he's keeping the amount of hits down (which likely signals better placement of his pitches overall). He's literally 2 days older than Nicolino so he's very much still has a year or two to grow if he has hopes of being a real major league contributor. Marlins seemed to know what they wanted in that McGehee trade and it's working out well.

Don't like to see that kind of start from Kolek but he's learning on the go so whatever.

Rony Cabrera is batting .329 and has an OPS over .800. Only 19 but he's been in the system since 2013. Doesn't seem to be a guy who walks too much unfortunately.

Austin Dean putting up a Zack Cox/Colin Moran caliber season. No walks, little power but he's hitting decent.

Also good to see a homer from Davis since he's shown absolutely no real power this year. He needs to get that OPS up to .800 if he wants to see Jupiter before next season.

Woods continuing to get on base at a really nice rate. Still surprised by the lack of power.

Wittgren's allowed a single run in his last 11 2/3 IP. He's gonna be in our bullpen very very soon.

Oh hi KJ Woods how ya doin

I mean it had to be at least a little demoralizing to hit at least decently well for so long and not even sniff a promotion. Obviously he hasn't given up and this is just a slow spell but Dietrich has been in a hugely unfortunate spot since the Martinez incident. I've said it before, but I just want him to get away from the Marlins and get a legitimate chance with another organization (similar to what Canha is getting now with the A's and what Barnes will get in LA).

                      Last week's MILB Marlins transactions:

-They signed amateur Panamanian SS Felix Arosemena (He's on Twitter! @felixarosemena)

-They also released P Jose Arias. He was acquired in the Jacob Turner trade last year and pitched seven games for Greensboro this year, sporting a 4.09 ERA in 11 innings.
