Well he does love Miami right? Maybe he will give us a discount?

Seriously tho the number Frisaro said has to be wrong,I could see 50 million before we got Morse/Prado/Gordon

Gotta love us tho,we would offer 50 million for a 29 yr old with injury questions but nothing even close to that for Castillo,Abreu or Tomas?

I would rather have the 19 yr old pitcher Gutierrez(we don't use our IFA Pool cash anyway) and a younger 2B like 21 yr old Andy Ibanez or even Fernandez who is 26 if he gets cleared

I remember when it was crazy that Aroldis Chapman got $30 million, then Cespedes got $36 million, Puig with $42 million and Abreu reaching $68 million. These Cuban contracts are getting bigger and bigger. Given the reports scouts haven't even seen him play since 2013, and the injury history is extensive, add to the fact his Cuban stats aren't outlandishly good like Abreu's were, and I don't see paying Olivera $50 million+ being a good move.

Dodgers can apparently afford a $75 million mistake, so good for them. If he turns into Dustin Pedroia 2.0 good for them.

Couldn't we have used this money to get James Shields?

The Marlins are no longer involved in bidding for Cuban free agent infielder Hector Olivera, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

The Marlins dropped out after initially offering a reported $53 million over seven years. The team pulled back the offer and dropped out of the bidding.

Well when the Dodgers are offering $70 million+,there's no reason to stay in the bidding when you have no shot.

Well he loves Miami so maybe he would have given a 25 million dollar discount?

But ya this would have been a waste of money-sign the younger Cuban guys for less

So they gave that money to Yelich instead? I can dig it.

I would hope this was not the decision they made.

Is it bad I was hoping the Marlins would sign Olivera, Hech would get hurt, and then Dee would play SS and Olivera at 2B?
