Am I missing something, because the Reds sold him even less than Marlins sold Heaney?

I am speechless. I don't understand industry evaluation of players.

Had a bunch of arm issues last season, lost 2 MPH on his fastball. Reds had an ownership decree to shed nearly $20 million in salary.

Yes, but the "injury discount" is a probable 7th inning reliever and a relative non-prospect AAAA depth catcher?

I just can't fathom they couldn't get a better arm than DeScalfani from the other teams right?

fwiw, I think DeSclafani's got more upside than 7th-inning reliever. I think I would have rather traded Nicolino, TBH.

Same here. I'd have ranked Disco higher than Nicolino next year.

I like this, gonna miss seeing DeSclafani progress but these are the trades we need to be making. Chad Wallach didn't do well in the AFL and we have Chris Hoo who is the same age, might be just as good with the bat, but is way better defensively (GG in college, 50% cs in college and minors). And then there's the "Hoo's on first" jokes

Well, at least they replaced Heaney in the rotation... for this year. That's something.
