  • The Official National League Wild Card Discussion

    Gentlemen,

I've been waiting for the right opportunity to start this thread. We haven't done this in 3-4 years. This team, which I did not expect would win 75 games, has reached the .500 mark on August 17th and sits just 3 games from the second Wild Card spot. Regardless of what we think will happen as the calendar turns to September, let's enjoy the next couple weeks and reassess. Despite the lack of activity around here this season, this team deserves this thread and our attention.

    Without further hesitation:

Reds and Giants are ahead, Bucs are scoreless, and Atlanta plays later tonight.

When was the last time we were at .500 this late into a season?

Yeah I was going to do this and then decided not to be the guy who ruined the season.

        Party's over again.

The season has lasted into August. Beats April 20ish of last year. I'm just enjoying the ride. #win

We've (Hugg and I) been talking about the Wild Card for 5 weeks but an official thread is fun. The Reds meltdown was glorious.

                    LET'S DO THIS, FELLAS!

Jon Lester being very useless to us right now.

                    C'mon, asshole.

The Reds lost game 2 also, we're now a full game in front of them.

So this is the first real playoff race we've been a part of since 2009 when we won 87 games and still finished 5 GB. Lets not ignore that we're in this race because a lot of teams at the top of the NL have struggled as of late, but it's been fun to see this team fight there way back and really get into this race.

Even if we fall off towards the end it has been a fun fun year. Lets do this.

Good point. I just like to bring the pessimism in the pool of optimism.
