    WOW his hands are high
    --------------------
2014 Bay Area player of the year:

The Oregon commit had a season to be remembered at Granada. Soltis completed his senior season with a .353 batting average, totaling nine triples and four home runs along the way. His power wasn’t the only trait that he carried on the field as he also finished with 13 stolen bases. He lead the East Bay Athletic League in home runs (4), runs (27) and slugging percentage (.729). ESPN rates Soltis as the 95th overall MLB draft prospect, which takes places this Thursday through Saturday. He is projected to go in the top five rounds.

so seems like he got drafted a bit on the low end, wonder if he'll be a tough sign with the Oregon commit

really like what I saw from the MLB video, looks like the stance was tweaked a bit and looks like he can move, plus I'm a sucker for lefty outfielders

The Marlins continued an interesting draft with prep outfielder Casey Soltis out of Granada High in Livermore, Calif., hometown of Randy Johnson. Soltis is old for the class at 19 and was seen as a bit of a tweener defensively by some scouts, who were mixed on whether he could stay in center field or would have to move to a corner, which would put more pressure on his bat. But he has a chance to hit, and some scouts project him to hit for above-average power in the future.

    MLBPipeline #15 Prospect

    Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 50 | Overall: 45

Soltis was a part of a strong 2014 Draft class in Northern California and played summer ball with eventual first-round picks Derek Hill and Luis Ortiz. Soltis wasn't far behind them in the Draft and heard his own name called in the fifth round, two days before his 19th birthday.

For a young player, Soltis has an advanced feel at the plate and uses a quick, short swing to make consistent contact to all fields. He is a patient hitter and has some raw power, though he's still learning how to tap into it during games.

Defensively, Soltis has a chance to stay in center field. If he does move to a corner, his strong arm would play well in right field, and he saw some time in left field during his professional debut. His powerful bat will play no matter what position he settles in

Miami outfielder Casey Soltis was banned 50 games for a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Soltis, 21, a fifth-round pick in 2014, hit .190 this year in 52 games at Class A Greensboro of the South-Atlantic League.

He has to do something with that $450,000 Bonus we gave him.

At least we know why he will be getting released. What's up with us and drafted guys who smoke weed?? Positive notes are maybe thats why he can't hit AND unlike others he showed up for the test!!
