Marlins move radio broadcast to 940 WINZ-AM
    By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com | 11/6/2013 10:43 A.M. ET

MIAMI -- The Marlins have a new radio home.

The club announced on Wednesday that its 2014 games will air on 940 WINZ-AM, the new English radio flagship station for the organization. The Marlins have entered a partnership with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Miami after spending the past few seasons at 790 The Ticket.

Known as "Miami's Sports Animal," 940 WINZ will offer complete game coverage as well as pregame and postgame analysis.

"The Miami Marlins are extremely pleased to enter this new partnership with Clear Channel," Marlins president David Samson said. "Our fans throughout South Florida will benefit from Clear Channel's expansive network of stations. The Marlins' new long-term home on 940 WINZ will give our fans the ability to follow the Marlins throughout the year."

As part of the agreement, Marlins players, coaches and executives will appear on the station.

With Major League Baseball's free-agency period now underway, 940 WINZ will also feature "The Hot Stove Report," a half-hour show covering the Marlins and MLB news. It will air each weekend during the offseason.

The Marlins join a growing family of sports teams being broadcast on 940 WINZ, also the radio home of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Gators football and basketball, as well as other NFL games.

"Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Miami is thrilled to partner with the Miami Marlins and provide comprehensive game coverage for our listeners," said Lonny Anger, market president, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Miami. "As two-time World Series champions, they have proven they have what it takes to succeed, and we look forward to serving their loyal fan base."

It was mentioned in the spring training thread and I had no idea. This is a major downgrade. The Ticket is simulcast on FM and has a much larger audience than WINZ.
