      Reyes or Cespeds?

I'd be shocked if he got more than Chapman. The hype surrounding Chapman was insane.

I've never heard of him before today. Then again, I don't pay attention to international players other than Chapman.

He's also 26, whereas Chapman was 21 when he signed.

Yeah, he's not getting more than Chapman.

I think Reyes is going to get a lot of money and some team will risk a big deal. The years will be lower than Crawfords. I can easily see 5/$85 range, and big incentives/options triggering future years.

But I am distracted at work. I didn't think about escalating salaries and was just thinking per annum, so you could easily deflect Cepedes in future seasons and start him really low or average out a signing bonus over years.

Still, even if we hypothetically assume the Marlins get Reyes for real low (lets say $15 a year), and Cepedes for $6 annually, but only pay him $2 in year one, that's still +/- $83 millionish, and two starting pitchers, and 2-3 bench/OF platoon bats to go.

Real optimistic. Just saying, if they sign Reyes, I can't imagine a payroll under $90 that fields a "complete" team on paper. But I guess that isn't bad? We always knew a $100 payroll with this core would be a nuts team. Hopefully Loria just goes for it and realizes he could trade everyone easily in a worst case scenario as everyone would be in their prime with not have terrible Ryan Howardesque deals.

I think that if they can have a really great week and nab Reyes/Cespedes, they can very quickly turn their attention to Wilson/Buerhle/Jackson + Gio/Shields and see which provides the best deal.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

Jose Reyes' agents decline to comment on WFAN report that Reyes to meet with Marlins. Makes sense, tho, as that's a team that could use him.

Wow that is a VERY sexy lineup.

I think that lineup could possibly get MiamiHomer and Omar to wear the new hat.
