Organizational Rule #764: Never hire a pitching coach whose name sounds like a Canadian porn star.

    /Bill Simmons-esque analysis.

John Patterson, Shawn Hill, John Lannan.

There's more, I'm sure, but it's not like the guy has been a resounding failure in his time there. It also should be noted that that team hasn't had much to work with.

While Patterson and Hill each had 1 nice season, they regressed after that. Seems/ed like it was more a fluke season than anything

          You're a fluke season.

I feel like it doesn't really matter, as I said. I'm not saying he's responsible for their success or their regressions, just that the Nats haven't been completely terrible in his time there.

That's fine. Doesn't mean he's worthy of the job

Compared to whom? Out of the pool of possible candidates, I don't see a huge difference.

I have no idea. But this guy has done crap for the last seven years. No reason to bring in a retread.

I mean, I get the argument that great players make so-so coaches look spectacular, but when you hold a job for 7 years and had at least a few promising arms (Ohka, Hill, Patterson, Lannon, to an extent Pavano and Armas) you should be able to produce a decent big leaguer. St. Claire hasn't done that. That's not encouraging.

Why don't we hire Mark Wiley? I heard he was available.

Was he one of the guys that was around in Montreal before Loria left?
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.
