Article on BA about Francis Martes who we "threw in" the Cosart deal. Almost as bad as our dealings with Detroit. Moran/Marisnick/Cameron and Martes for Cosart and Miguel Rojas

Also for the people who still believe in Tyler Kolek. The game tonight will be on MILB.tv tonight. He is going up against Greenville(Known by the scouts as the BEST/Most talented team in the minors)

That should be fun to watch

So Kolek against that talented team didn't work out so well. Sigh.

Wittgren still belongs in the majors.

Other than that, nothing to report other than mentioning again that this system is awful and we traded away all the potential good prospects in the system or simply let them go (Canha/Barnes/Heaney/Hernandez/Martes/Desclafani/Moran/Marisnick/Wallach/etc...). There was a halfway decent farm system here not too long ago with a good deal of players on the cusp, but the front office went for broke via trade on some bad investments and now this team is set back several years. It's actually impressive how what appeared to be a decent situation in 2014 has turned into this trainwreck of a season. Even with Stanton/Fernandez for the entire season this is a below .500 squad. Other than huge improvements from players currently on the team, this isn't a playoff team for some years. I'm actually impressed how botched this season is.

        - - - - - - - - - -

I still really like the Sam Dyson trade though. I honestly see Telis' as a nice contact hitter at the MLB level and challenging Realmuto for the starting spot. He's also peaking at the right time.

So I'm not totally hating on everything Marlins just for the sake of hating.

Ya the Dyson deal was nice for us,would even be nicer if we give the Ege kid a look in ST

Take out Pineyro's horrid first start with New Orleans and he has a 1.33 ERA in 27 IP. He's also getting through starts efficiently and with little damage. As I have to mention with everyone, I'd love the strikeout totals to be higher but as long he's not letting people on base he should be fine.

Cody Ege also hasn't allowed any runs since joining New Orleans.

On the major league side of those trades Haren has seen his ERA rise half a run since joining the Cubs and Dyson...well he's actually been pretty cool for Texas. Feel good that we'll win the Haren trade if Pineyro becomes anything useful and the Dyson trade was over what I expected (although given his performance with Texas I can see the trade from both POV's).

Other than that nothing really to say about the minors right now.

The best part is that getting a minor league player that never made it above A ball was still better for the major league team than keeping Heath Bell.
