  • Batting Practice Question

Taking the little ones to the 12:40 game tommorow.

Seriously considering taking them to see batting practice but I don't know what time to get there.

Anyone have any experience with this? Who takes BP first? The Marlins?

I want to take them to LF and try and snag a ball for them.

    Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure if it has changed, but last season (and every season I can remember before) the road team took batting practice last. In order to see them in full, you'd probably want to get there around noon or a little bit earlier and camp in LF like you said.

I haven't seen the Marlins take BP in the new stadium, but that's mostly because I never got to the stadium more than thirty minutes prior to first pitch.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

My initial guess was that we'd have to get to the park 90-120 min before first pitch to see the Marlins BP.

I've gotten to the stadium 45 min early and they don't even have the BP gear on the field anymore.

The home teams always take batting practice first. The hardest part about trying to see the home team take BP is the time when the gates open. In my experience, the gates usually open 90 minutes before game time. If you get there right when the gates open, you may have 5 minutes to watch the end of the home teams bp.

Disclaimer: this is from my experience at other stadiums around the league. I have not been to the new ballpark but what I mentioned above was the norm for every stadium I have been to (about 10 different stadiums).

Don't usually on day games, they don't take BP or just do it in the cages underneath?

Dammit. We should've put in Gregg so that he could've lost the game and gotten DFA'd after.
