After a walk and a strikeout in the sixth inning, Andrew Miller is done for the night. 10 K, 1 BB in 5 1/3 IP. 96 pitches.
    What an ass.

He'll still get shelled in Boston.

Miller still has a 4.8 BB/9 in AAA.

I'd be shocked if he can put anything together at the major league level for an extended period.

He has an opt out clause in his contract that comes up around now. This could be part of the reason for this.

I agree with that a whole lot.

But I would rather have the upside of Miller even with the likelihood that he never puts it together, then a guy who will most likely be spending a good deal of his career in AAA.

Pretty sure Miller is on a major league contract. Costs more.

And he had an out that he could exercise by tomorrow. That's why this announcement came now.

However, only a few hours ago on rotoworld it said that Miller would not exercise his out clause.

From what I was reading, he met with Theo Epstein today and was likely told of the call up.

In hindsight, the Cabrera trade makes me a sad panda. Didnt like it then either but I digress. No reason to be talking about Maybin, Miller, or the myriad of other crappy assholes Detroit sent the Marlins way.

Miller going to pitch against the Padres Monday. So it'll still be like he's in the minors facing that offense.
