Castro is probably fair, it’s just been infuriating he way they’ve handled the development of prospects and the evaluation of fringe prospects. It’s one think not to call up Ramirez and dean if you have Stanton Ozuna and Yelich, but the trash they’ve been throwing out there rather than evaluating young guys is absolutely maddening

I can't imagine Anderson, Alfaro/Wallach, Dean, Ramirez, and Cooper aren't starting nearly every game for the next few weeks and that's the "longterm" option squad right there. Diaz and Brinson are going to join them likely after the all-star break once Walker and Castro are traded. All of a sudden, everyone but SS is a potential keeper with service time, and maybe Riddle is called up and hits RHP? Maybe they get a new one? Maybe Herrera hits (lol).

They'll get enough tape on all these guys. I wouldn't worry. The big question for me is timing the Gallen and Diaz callups to maximize their chances at success.

Completely inexcusable and it was obvious what would happen at the time. IF you go look at the trade deadline thread from last year i think both of us were right away calling it out for how stupid and big of a mistake it was not to capitalize on the value of 2 average relievers.

This front office has shown 0 ability to know when to trade guys. I said it right after the trade deadline passed last year, there is 0 excuse as to why they didn’t trade Conley and steckenrider last year. And the argument that we should keep giving abs to Prado and granderson and Castro to try to flip them at the deadline is so stupid. Nobody wants that trash and all your doing is preventing yourself from getting more of an opportunity to evaluate the actual young talent on the roster for the future

ive been consistent the entire time, just because some people want to often be overwhelmingly negative doesnt mean i dont have anything negative to say about the front office. Ive been consistent since the beginning, this rebuild is absolutely the right move and they are doing it in mostly the right way, but they arent infallible and there are things they are continually fucking up, such as the right time to deal assets and how to handle the development and timing of promoting their prospects.

I dont think he is a centerfielder, but I think Harold Ramirez as a Corner outfielder going forward is a real possibiity. That bat is legit.

If they’re continuously fucking up those things, they’re not mostly doing the rebuild right. Stop.

that's simply not the case though. you're not going to get every move right. The key is the overall process of continuing to build through within. You can have the overwhelming majority of the process correct without getting every move right or without every part of the process being ideal.

Continuing to build through within and getting young pitching and young hitting while cleaning out contracts and building depth in the system is perfect. Just because they fuck up on trading some pieces when their value is no longer at their highest or I disagree with when they do and dont promote certain guys doesnt equal the entire rebuild being done incorrectly.

Kinda like the Astros drafting Mark Appel and Brady Aiken number 1 in back to back years and prematurely dumping JD martinez.

Id suggest going back and looking at some of the deals the astros made from 2011 on. a ton of horrendous trades that ended up not mattering because they stuck to the plan for a sustained period of time of investing in the draft and IFA and scouting well.

Isan diaz went deep for the 4th straight game and people are talking about bringing him up right now. The guys got just 40 ab's against lefties this year and is OPS'ing .439 with a 13/2 K/BB ratio. Thats after 46 ab's against lefties last year in AAA where he also ops'ed just .548 with a 12/3 K/BB ratio. He is not ready and theyd be doing him a disservice bringing him up this quickly so i hope they dont do it until around july 15.
