The Minnesota Twins are deep into talks with the Miami Marlins on a deal that would send reliever Sergio Romo to Minnesota, sources with knowledge of the situation tell ESPN. The expectation is a trade will soon be finalized.
Return should be interesting. Give me a bat or a low level player with a lot of potential

give me misael urbina please. Would make so much sense for both teams.

2 guys gone according to Sherman. Romo and a minor league pitcher. Wonder if they dealt a solid prospect to get a good bat back in return

      - - - - - - - - - -

Only non prospect type guy I can think of would be giving them noesi for some added depth

Lewin Diaz is the return. On my phone right now so I can’t look at the prospect lists but his numbers look really impressive thus far this year

That’s a damn impressive get for Sergio Romo. He’s always been a personal favorite of mine.

Hitting .309./348/.602 in AA this year. Only 22 and has nice power. I’m damn impressed

Marlins also traded P Chris Vallimont in the deal with Romo to Minnesota.

pipeline has him 30 on the twins list but his numbers are really fucking impressive this year as a 22 year old in A+ and AA. Big 6'4 lefty power bat at 1b

woah vallimont going is super surprising. im guessing they really like diaz and are starting the process of flipping some of these arms for bats they like.

                WTF?

                - - - - - - - - - -

I like the guy they got, but Vallimont and Diaz seem like similar-valued prospects. It's a head scratcher.

they have to just be high on diaz's potential to become our everyday 1b and know we have like 10+ potential SP guys in the next few years. Diaz's power is super interesting at a position we have no real long term solution. The kid doesnt turn 23 till november and is on pace for like 70 XBH's for the year.

As I reported yesterday the Twins were after Romo. This is a player the Marlins wanted badly in Lewin Diaz, so much so as they went the extra step with Vallimont.
                  Yup.

holy shit we gave up a PTBNL too. they have to be in love with this kid.

in that highlight video he goes 3-3 off sixto. This kid has some pretty ridiculous power. It looks like he's not squaring up some of those balls and theyre going out.

You gotta love his numbers from this season, no doubt about that, but he was pretty lackluster before this season. They better be right on this one.

So this year when he was in the FSL, he went 8-18 with 2 hr's, a double, 6 rbi's, and a walk against Jupiter. against Jax in the southern league he went 8-22 with 3 doubles, and obviously like i mentioned that 3 hit game against sixto and in that video there was a double off guzman. Our scouts must have loved him

Also - new Marlins prospect Lewin Diaz was just removed from his game with the AA Pensacola Twins and will go over to the other clubhouse in Jacksonville and join the Jumbo Shrimp !

Can he play for both teams in the same game

                          - - - - - - - - - -

in an article on the athletic that mentioned diaz as a potential trade target with the twins it says that baseball america has diaz as 70 grade raw power.

On twitter todd pratt, who im just finding out is our jupiter manager, said that diaz reminded him of fred mcgriff.

His swing reminds me of Carlos Delgado.

I’m ok with this. I’m just in shock because Vallimont was literally the only player I was impressed by at the one minor league game I went to this year. VVM looked awful.

Vallimont showed some nice potential but all I can tell you is the Marlins absolutely love this kid Lewin Diaz. We will have to monitor this one.
a 3 for 1, including our closer and a decent SP prospect for a minor league 1b. they sure as hell do love this kid. He could be our 1b by the middle-end of next year.

delgado is a good comparison. similar way the ball jumps off the bat.

twins fans are saying he was expendable because they have a ton of 1b depth and he needs to be put on the 40 man in the offseason.
