Apparently we're only paying half of the $900K left for this year, so we're sending about $450K.

So Dean is the LF now right and DD at 1B?
That is what I would assume. Dean was removed from the AAA game 2 days ago and didn't play yesterday, so I would think this has been in the works.

That's gotta be it then. Bour out, Dean up and in LF, Dietrich finally out of the OF, and then Sierra gone when Brinson comes back in a few weeks.

Bour's surplus value is probably like..... $20+ million, and that's ignoring the 1B masher types (Morrison, Mouse, etc.) got nothing in free agency.

I think a FV40 prospect the team likes actually makes sense, although "two" would likely be better.

          I am guessing it's a lefty reliever.

McKenzie Mills would be a solid get numbers wise. Id like to know more about his pitches though as I think he might be more of a lefty reliever.

Mills would be that nothing prospect I was describing.

How is it that every fucking trade we make is it consistently a long time until we actually find out who we got?

If that's him, not the 1st time he's been moved. FG gave him an honorable mention on Phillies top prospects 2018: Mills was acquired from Washington for Howie Kendrick in 2017. He sits 89-91 and will kiss 94 while flashing an above-average changeup and curveball. He projects as a back-end starter.

Also looks like he must be protected on 40 man as a 2014 draftee.

Guess we'll see if it's him.

Ya, if its him i wouldnt call him a nothing prospect, but i would like to see us stop trading for back end of the rotation/bullpen guys and focus on drastically improving the hitting depth in our system for a change.

Phillies will send a pitcher currently at single A to Miami for Bour
Good thing other teams have beat writers cause ours surely dont do shit.

Bailey falter would fit the bill as a guy not on the top 30 list, currently in single A, and has very similar numbers to a lot of guys we have acquired in terms of very low WHIP guy who walks very few people (like Lopez did).

And there you have it. Decent pick up but another back end of the rotation guy who we are swimming with and we continue to ignore a huge lack of hitting depth in the minors.

I just don't understand why Bour was treated like an upcoming free agent who we'll take anything just to get something out of him. The move screams of a team desperate to not spend money.

Marlins love a nice opportunity to not trade high on a player to hold onto them on a non-contender and then trade them a year later when their value is at its lowest. Its the marlins way.

Marlins beat writers post a lineup with Rafael Ortega in the lineup and dont say a thing or even notice he's been called up. Great work.

Guess I was wrong. Oretga called up and is starting tonight.

                                Per MLBTR/Heyman:

The Marlins will receive left-hander McKenzie Mills, Fancred’s Jon Heyman reports (Twitter link). Mills was an 18th-round pick for the Nationals in the 2014 draft, and the 22-year-old has a 3.51 ERA, 2.58 K/BB rate, and an 8.5 K/9 over 89 2/3 IP for high-A Clearwater this season, with Mills starting 16 of his 20 appearances. This is the second notable trade Mills has already been part of in his young career, as he was sent to the Phillies from the Nationals last summer in the Howie Kendrick deal.
