Marlins outfielder Cody Ross was removed from Thursday's game in the top of the seventh inning with lower back stiffness. He's listed as day-to-day.
Ross, who started in right field in the series finale with the Astros, drew a full-count walk in the bottom of the sixth inning against Chris Sampson. He tweaked his back during the at-bat. He ran the bases, and scored a run.
But in the top of the seventh inning, Ross was replaced in right field by Jeremy Hermida.
"I felt a little tightness," Ross said after Florida's 9-2 win. "It's precautionary. It's fine."
Ross will be evaluated on Friday, before the Marlins open a three-game series with the Rockies.
