Right-hander Burke Badenhop received a three-game suspension and $1,000 fine by Major League Baseball for intentionally drilling Orlando Hudson with a pitch in the seventh inning Sunday. Manager Fredi Gonzalez will serve a one-game suspension on Tuesday when the Marlins open a three-game series against the Braves.
Badenhop, who declined to comment today, does not plan to appeal his suspension, which he will start serving on Tuesday. That will give him plenty of rest to make a spot start Saturday night against the Cubs.
Badenhop hit Hudson after Hanley Ramirez was plunked by Jeff Weaver in the sixth inning. Weaver received a fine.
