      Yeah, what Ramp said!

If we still had Seddon we'd be getting Halladay for Vandenhurk, Aniba and Seddon

Again, this comes down to confidence in what.

Confidence that the team's plane will not crash on the way back to Florida?

Confidence in the fact that Josh Johnson won't lose his arm in a farming accident on his day off?

We're within a few games of the Wild Card lead and it's almost August. What would the confidence level of those who voted 3/4 be if we were 25 games out of first place?

And oh yea, Bonifacio and Coghs still hitting 1-2, with Baker 8th still annoys the hell out of me and I believe it positions us in a harder place to win games
It really is something when our second best OBP/OPS guy against RHP is hitting 8th lol

          but

I can understand the point that the 3 of Coghlan, Bonifacio, and Baker need to be hitting 1, 2, and 8 or 9. I would do Coghlan/baker 1/2 and bonifacio 9. But since SPEED NEEDS TO BE AT THE TOP it atleast puts baker to be driven in by hanley and we need to have as many guys on base infront of hanley cuz he's really the only offensive guy on this team that's worth a shit

I'm not confident we can compete with SF, COL, STL, CHI especially since they are looking/have made big moves to improve their teams. We'll get a better idea after this week of games against some WC opponents.

I'm sorry, but I just can't buy the Giants, Rockies, and Cardinals as definitely being better teams than us. I think we are just as good, if not better, than all three of those squads. Chicago will probably end up winning the Central, so we might not even have to worry about them.

Well, the Cardinals have a guy that's threatening to win the Triple Crown while the Rockies have a rotation that can compete against most. We also (I believe) have the hardest schedule in baseball this year so it won't be easy.

That said, if we can get results against Atlanta I think we should expect a shiny new OF starting on Saturday.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

I am not confident in the front office. I am not confident in the manager. I am not confident in our third baseman. I am not confident in our left fielder. I am not confident we can beat good teams consistently at this point.

I am confident we start off every game at a disadvantage because of our how starting lineup is constructed. Every game that begins with the worst 1-2 combo in baseball makes me realize that Fredi either doesn't have access to split stats (srsly) or that Beinfest is truly running the show and Fredi doesn't have much say in anything.

As would I, but unfortunately, unless the front office is keeping things very quiet, we haven't expressed the slightest interest in him.

I'd call if confidence to make the playoffs for myself. We aren't far behind in the wildcard but we are still in a pack of about 6 teams and we begin 4 games behind the Rockies in the loss column. We might be almost as good as that team but nonetheless we are at a disadvantage in the standings already and need to make up ground.

Also, I agree with Ramp on the beating good team consistently thing. I don't have much that makes me feel confident we can do that. If we are playing a quality team, you can give me a 4 in confidence if confidence means how likely is it we will win any given game against a quality opponent. Granted, we don't face a quality opponent everyday but neither does anyone else.

I'm gonna join Matt Wilson up there and give it a 10. McLevin was giving me a hard time when I kept saying WGW against the Dodgers all weekend. And I believed it.

                          10!

                          WGW

                            Finally, somebody else on board.

                            Welcome to the winning team.

People who can jump from 4 or 5 to 9 or 10 are completely basing their confidence on 6 or 7 games each week for their overall confidence of where this team can go this year?

Or is there an idea that if we vote 10 the Fish will appreciate it and play extra well for us?

Couldn't ones confidence be based entirely on the prior week? Would that make ones vote 'wrong'?

It's such a vague question that if someone jumps 5 points each week, I don't think you can question it.
