Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 50 | Slider: 45 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 55 | Overall: 50
Garcia has steadily advanced since signing with the Marlins as a 17-year old in 2010. He reached full-season ball for the first time in 2014 and posted the lowest walk rate in the South Atlantic League.
Garcia fills up the zone, but he has more control than command at this stage of his career. He generates easy velocity, and his fastball sits in the low to mid 90s. He has shown a good curveball in the past, but lost feel for the pitch in 2014 and started throwing a slider to make up for it.
The Marlins left Garcia exposed to the Rule 5 Draft in December, but he went unselected. That gives him the chance to continue to build towards his potential as a big league starter at a comfortable pace.

9) Jarlin Garcia, LHP, Grade C+: Age 22, posted 4.38 ERA with 111/21 K/BB in 134 innings in Low-A, 152 hits. Hittable but interesting, low-90s fastball with assortment of secondary pitches with promise, have to like the K/BB ratio and he is physically projectable.
