No real surprise as to who will be Florida's starting pitcher on Saturday night in Philadelphia.

As expected, Sean West is being recalled from Double-A Jacksonville. The 23-year-old, who was optioned on July 11, will be making his 11th start at the big league level. The 6-foot-8 lefty is 3-4 with a 4.91 ERA with the Marlins.

At Double-A, West is 7-3 with a 4.78 ERA in 12 games, with 11 starts.

To make room on the roster, reliever Luis Ayala was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans. Ayala has appeared in nine games with the Marlins, and in 7 1/3 innings, he has yielded seven runs on eight hits.

I don't think this is a good idea. A flyball pitcher pitching in a park that is not friendly to fly ball pitchers in a crucial game against a team full of All-Stars.

I know our choices are limited but this has disaster written all over it.

Hensley could have pitched, too.

It could just be a spot start. Anibal may be ready to return the next time we need the 5th starter.

West is the best option for a win, simple enough.
