Didn't see this anywhere and it brings up an interesting posibility.
Andy Gonzalez was DFA'd to make room for Nick Johnson so this is not a surprise.
The interesting thing is clearing Taylor of the 40-man three days before we need the 5th starter. I'm thinking it's for one of two reasons; 1.) he is being cleared so that another pitcher not on the 40-man roster (possibly Clay Hensley) will have a spot on the roster when the 5th starter is needed on Saturday or 2.) he is being cleared in advance of a trade/waiver claim of a player to be added to the roster.
