Jeremy Hermida can't hide behind Boner anymore. Pathetic.

But also, blown opportunity. Could have pulled within 4 games of the Phils...now all we've done is lost ground in the Wild Card. PHFUCK-

This.

I can't deny that this was probably the worst loss of the season, but we had to lose to them eventually, right?

Get 'em tomorrow.

No, you can't give up games like this in the race especially when the race can come down to 1 or 2 games.

Well, guess what; it happens. Every team loses games like this somewhere along the line. We just have to win tomorrow and the next day.

We can come back against the Nats because they are 35 games under .500. That's understandable from anyone's perspective. But as a team in the playoiff race, we should never lose a 4-0 lead in the 8th against THEM

plenty of ballgame left to make up for this..
i liking how often the marlins are getting on bases since NJ's trade, just need to convert them into runs, and stop running themselves out of innings

Their offense is actually solid, though. They can score. If this happened against, say, San Diego, I could see your point.

We blew this one much earlier in the game by stranding all of those baserunners.

very deflating loss, but tomorrow's another day. still have a chance to take 2 of 3, which is really all you can ask for on the road.

Doesn't really help that MacDougal couldn't throw a strike in the ninth inning but we gifted a double play for him to end it.

9 LOB for one hitter in a game is pathetic

So should we officially add Ronnie Belliard to our list of Marlin killers? Jeez.

we shouldnt won any games in the cubs series, but people say we deserved them, but when the marlins blow a game agianst the nats, people said we giving games. in the end the blowned games, and the comeback games even out. just part of the game

It just can't happen when you have your best pitcher on the mound and you are carrying a 4-0 lead into the 8th.

like maybin said shit happens, we shouldnt won on sat. when Gregg had a 2-1 lead in the 9nd inning, but we did. it just people overdramatic blown games more then comebacker

So because we shouldn't have won on Saturday we are suppose to be OK with losing this game because 'shit happens'? Yeah ok.

No one is saying we should be "okay" with losing this game, but you're acting like this is the first time any team in playoff contention blew a four-run lead in the eighth inning.

It's baseball; it happens, and you just tip your cap to the other team. As long as it doesn't happen again in this series, we'll be fine.

10straight against any team is a great accomplishment

Once again, pulling a reliever on a high-note for a situational matchup comes back to haunt us.

I think you have to throw the blame at Hermida's feet, no question, but that 8th inning basically summed up why we will be our own biggest enemy in terms of getting over that hump.

Wasn't all his fault but the guy can't hit with runners on. 9 LOB I believe.

Left nine runners on base and grounded into a DP with runners on 1st and 2nd to end it.

He did have an RBI single, though.

WASHINGTON -- Josh Johnson matched a career high with nine strikeouts and hit a home run, but he was unable to record his 11th victory of the season after struggling in the eighth inning.

The Nationals batted around and scored six runs in that frame to erase a four-run deficit and claim a 6-4 win over the Marlins on Tuesday night at Nationals Park. Adam Dunn poked a two-run home run to the opposite field for the go-ahead runs.

Johnson cruised through the first seven innings, retiring 20 straight batters after giving up a pair of early singles. With a 4-0 lead to start the eighth, he immediately ran into trouble. Johnson yielded three straight singles, and pinch-hitter Ronnie Belliard doubled to score two runs and knock Johnson out of the game.

Nyjer Morgan hit an RBI groundout off lefty Renyel Pinto, cutting the lead to 4-3. Against Kiki Calero, Cristian Guzman followed with a game-tying RBI single past a diving Nick Johnson at first base. Then Dunn struck on a 3-2 pitch from Dan Meyer.

Before Tuesday, the Marlins had won 10 straight games against the Nationals.

Johnson's homer in the fourth inning -- his third this season -- tied Dontrelle Willis (2006) and Alex Fernandez (1999) for most home runs in a season by a Marlins pitcher.

Two batters before Johnson, Cody Ross banged his 18th home run of the season.

9 LOB for the life of the game

The last came on a game ending GIDP when MacDougal was having difficulty throwing anything resembling a strike

Count me as one of the people that thinks we shouldn't have lost a game we were up 4-0 with our ace on the hill against a team we own that has the worst record in baseball.

Should. Not. Happen. Ever.

I got home from work just in time to see Adam Dunns homerun....great timing.
JJ was the man apparently until he started the 8th...I think he should have been pulled after the 3rd hit, but oh well.
And in related news, is it just me or has Dan Meyer been doing an impressive impression of Taylor Tankersley lately, falling behind and getting raked....
This loss truly sucks...but theres always tomm where hopefully we dont fuck up again.....

Our bullpen has been awesome all year, with the exception of a few crappy guys like Logan, and for the most part the usage of the bullpen has been Fredi's biggest strength.

Also

Wasn't all his fault but the guy can't hit with runners on. 9 LOB I believe.

Not defending him in this game, but overall this season he pretty much can only hit with runners on. He had a terrible game, but he's hit .287/.372/.433/ .805 with men on compared to .232/.316/.355/.670 with the bases empty. Yeah, he's the reason we lost tonight, but he's been pretty OK with men on.

Can't believe I got in the car after leaving with a 4-0 lead and seeing us lose. That's ridiculous. Ronnie Belliard is one of the worst PH's in MLB. The guy swings at everything in or out of the zone.

I meant with RISP. The guy has only 40 RBI's this far into the season and he is an everyday player hitting in the 5th or 6th spot.

Hermida is a steaming pile of doodoo. He must be our worst hitter with RISP. Especially lately. But its just one game, take the next two and its all good.

Could we maybe bat the guy with the second highest SLG pct. (and OPS) on the team a little higher in the order?

I was out fishing on the boat and missed the game. So it's good that I didn't witness it and it didn't impact me as hard as some of you.
Although, I was in shock when my friend told me the score was 4 to 6 final.
Before that, he had told me it was 4 to 2 in the 8th. I figured we had it in the bag.
And my mother had called me before to tell me it was 3 to 0.
I was certain that it was a done deal.
But I had a gut feeling coming into the series that this would be when the Nats finally get a win.
They've been playing good as of late.
Too bad the Marlins couldn't capitalize to be 4gb of the division.
A sweep could have been great going into CBP.
Now, hopefully winning the series, or even one game if possible.

if you're talking about cody he sucks against RHP

All of Uggla/Cantu/Hermida have higher OPSs than him against them.

Though with Hermida struggling past several months I think Cody ahead of him is for the best.

Now Baker on the other hand, who is second on the team in OPS against RHP, hitting 8th, is what's funny

Ramp

Fredi doesn't realize Baker is on the team until he already sets his lineup 1-7, 9
