What type of pitcher is this kid? What pitches does he have in his arsenal?
sinking fastball, a slurvelike pitch and an improving change

Sanabia is dirty. Nice guy too, hes' from Cali, always calling people dude and bro. I dunno if he is in the Marlins long-term plans, but he will get a 40-man spot this off-season, if not sooner. I think he's this year's Cristhian Martinez but younger and better.
unbelievable that he wasn't in BA's top 30
shame on you (BA)

So then what you're saying is he's not Martinez at all.

Ok ya, that made no sense at all lol. Sanabia is good, I just don't know if he's long term.
Does anyone know how fast he is throwing in Jax?
I want a 92 fastball. I will be sad if it is 88.

i believe he hits 91-92 but generally throws upper 80s

i don't know if that's accurate in AA but i remember reading or hearing that someone

Ramp has said low 90s in a few of his prospect reports, and I have seen it once or twice in BA reports. But I've also seen guys saying he was throwing mid/high 80s (late last year, could have tired).
I just want to know generally if he's projectionable, or Petit and out controlling guys.
BA overlooks guys sometimes, but out of the top 30. Something doesn't add up.

He took his first loss today. Still a great start. 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K. ERA still under 2 (1.81).

ERA down to 1.73. His start today was cut short because of an hour and a half rain delay but it was another solid start. 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.

His start today:
5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K. He got a no decision. ERA now 1.86.
One positive about his callup
Innings
2007 - 66.2
2008 - 96.2
2009 - 104.1
2010 so far - 84.1
If he kept starting in AA, he'd have broke 160 innings easily, which is probably to much of a jump as he has been on-off again hurt the last few years. Probably want to push him to the 130s this year, then move him to the 160s next year, 180s in 2012, etc.
Throwing around 40-50 innings sounds about perfect for where he should be this year. That's negligible June innings, and 15 a piece July, August, and September. That sounds about right if they plan on using him as the 5th right hander long reliever in the bullpen.

Marlins’ Alejandro is no Lady Gaga fan
Call him Alex Sanabia, even though his birth name is Alejandro.
Sanabia said the Marlins called him up last month just in time. The scoreboard folks at Class AA Jacksonville said the were planning to change his walk-up music to the Lady Gaga song “Alejandro.”
Before he could strut his stuff to Gaga, the Marlins called him up. Sanabia’s walk-up music in Jacksonville was Bob Marley’s Iron Lion Zion. He says he wouldn’t be surprised if he hears Lady Gaga played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami when the Marlins return home July 16.
“I’ll get texts here and there, ‘Oh, your song is on!”’

Like Volstad does?

Volstad needs to miss the plane and stay in Washington. Start smoking crack. Run for mayor. Then no longer be a Marlin.

Alex seems to have a bit of Ryan Tucker syndrome going on (except that Alex doesn't have Ryan's bad temper). He tears up the minors but needs to develop his third pitch in order to be a successful starter in the majors.

Tucker could really use a 2nd pitch.
When did Tucker tear up the minors?
fuck the love for him
He's my anti-mba-volstad

Who is your least favorite? Sanabia or Tucker?
What I meant was that Tucker was having a great season in AA when he was called up only for him to get torched after a couple major league starts.
Tucker
All he had was a pretty ERA in AA. He had a 2 K/BB ratio with bad control and unimpressive strike out rates and fuck him

I'd take Tuck over Mexicali because Tucker could be a real force in the bullpen. If he will or not, we'll see.
