Let's take this out of the game thread (and into my car!)
MLB
NBA
NFL
Ironically, college football is waaaaaay preferable to college basketball. College basketball is the worst.
MLB
the other 2 don't register
(but if you gimme soccer, that's just below baseball)

Major sports can include anything you want*, Ramp. I don't really follow anything besides those three and their college counterparts, so I didn't include anything else.
*Even NHL!

I would not personally add college basketball. Never really appealed to me.
(UM was irrelevant for most of my lifetime. In fact, I generally root for Duke during the tourney because I always liked them when I was younger and almost went there for both undergrad and law school. Had I actually gone to Duke, I'd probably be ranking college basketball #1 on my list.)

College basketball takes everything that sucks about the NBA (slow games, poor shot selection, awkward white guys) and makes it go on for 40 minutes straight.

Watching college basketball is usually 4 Scalabrines and one Ben Gordon. It's the fucking worst.
And this is coming from, perhaps the most awkward white guy.

College Football.
MLB - Baseball season is special
College Football - I'm from Ohio, we're born & raised on college football
College Basketball - This is actually the leader in the category of "can watch any 2 teams play regardless of rooting interest"
NHL - This would be higher if my team didn't suck. The year the Blue Jackets made the playoffs was one of the most enjoyable sports seasons I've ever had.
EPL - Would be much more into this if I had a normal work schedule and thus saw my team play more often instead of being asleep. I don't really watch anything but EPL. I'm trying to get back into the Crew now that I'm back in Cbus, but god they got rid of almost everyone I liked.
NFL - Get less excited about it every year. At this point, I really don't care if they play this fall or not.
NBA - The NBA is a weird sport to me because I follow it pretty closely, but I don't really watch it much. Makes no sense.

if it came down to game 7 of the WS for the Marlins, Everton in the Champions League final, Indiana in the NCAA Championship Basketball game, Indiana in the BCS Title game (LOL), or USMNT in the World Cup final... I really have no idea which I would pick
CrimsonCane
04-05-2011, 10:38 PM
For me, my pick woud not mirror my preference list.
Dolphins in the Super Bowl would be my choice but that's because I've never seen it before. All my other favorite teams have won championships in my lifetime.
Same here.
I'd pick the CBJ in Game 7 of the Finals. Especially if it was here.
If I had to pick any of my teams to win the championship, it's them. It's our only real team (OSU doesn't rep the city, Crew aren't a big deal here), it'd be nice to see a real parade downtown.

Also, I've really come to love soccer; it has that 'wow' factor mixed with elegance that I love about hockey. My gripe is that it's just difficult to keep up with because of the scheduling, time difference and my pretty bonkers workload now. If I could say I could watch that every Saturday night, live, at 8 PM it might be #3 for me.

I would rank the World Cup over everything but the Heat. But probably its appeal to me is that it's only once every 4 years.
I agree with Mainge, if it's game of our lifetime, I want to see the USMNT in the Cup final.
Yeah, since it's every four years, it would probably (incredibly barely by the slimmest of margins) top the Marlins winning the title for me.

The majority of the world also oppresses free speech, makes $2 a day and slaughters their own people. Not exactly the brightest or sanest folks. I like the big middle finger we extend to the rest of the world by ignoring their sport and focusing on our superior American sports.

If the USMNT had 15 games in America this year, they'd outdraw the Marlins.

Of course 5 MLS teams did that, so that's not really a big deal I guess.

That we don't ignore the sport. Just people who don't like it pretend everyone else doesn't.
Kinda like people who don't like hockey.
