Didn't the game land 7 points short of the total? A game landing 1 point short of the total might qualify as a bad beat. A high scoring 1st half followed by a low scoring 2nd half is not a bad beat. That happens all the time.

Yeah, no, a game that needs a total of 211 not getting the 47 it needs in the fourth is a bad beat.

We'll agree to disagree. A game that falls short of the total by 7 is a loss.

Here is a bad beat scenario (not mine personally but I'm trying to illustrate what a bad beat is):

You have under 216 in a basketball game. The score with 0:03 to play is Heat 116 Boston 98

As time expires, Pierce chucks up a 3-pointer from 7 feet beyond the arc to make the final score Heat 116 Boston 101.

That's a bad beat.
