Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, lawyers with knowledge of the results told The New York Times.

The two were key members of the Boston Red Sox World Series teams in 2004 and 2007.

Not surprising.

Yeah I will toss and turn all night tonight in disbelief that Ortiz tested positive.

Remember when JJ would get angry on that unnamed board when someone suggested that Papi took roids?

So the Twins were partially right.

We're not gonna do the ARod thing?

Just release the whole fucking list, this is total bullshit for the players being leaked.

Beef

So then why should all of them be leaked?

Bobbob1313

Because someone is obviously just milking it for the most press they can get.

I don't think it is unfai that their names are coming out, I think it's unfair that their names are coming out only because it creates headline. When the list comes out and like Brian banks is on it, it won't fit into the storyline, so why release him anyways.

I'm not surprised and I'm not bothered. Everyone cheating = level playing field = fine with me.

I like people who say they would be surprised if Ken Griffey and Derek jeter came out as users, and that's it.

Yes, very surprising that ultra competitive people with millions of dollars on the line would do whatever they reasonably could to improve. There is literally nobody I would be surprised about.

I like that you like that. I do not enjoy people who get surprised and angry about this stuff

I wouldn't be suprised if The Machine tested positive either. Like Fritz said though, whatevs. MLB needs to move on.

Pujols testing positive for roids would not be the least bit surprising to me.

I think the only players that I would be surprised about taking roids would be Greg Maddux and Griffey. Even then I wouldn't be upset, I'd accept it for what it is.

I never understood why people say Griffey.

Are his and arod's early career much different? When he was getting hurt every other week, why wouldn't he have at least tried them?

Just doesn't make sense to me. I seem to be one of the few people who says they think Griffey probably took them (at least as much probably as anyone else). Seems like wishful thinking to me because we want to collectively protect his image.

I've been having this argument RE: Ortiz with my mother for months now. She always gets riled up and annoyed when I suggest he may have been roiding. But fuckin' A it was obvious... I shall proceed to rub this information directly into her face.

Not shocked because most players were probably using steroids.

Griffey's body suggests he never took steroids. The stuff implicating Bonds even suggest that they went separate ways when Bonds took PEDs. I'd be shocked if Griffey used roids. He was always in it for love of the game, and from day one never needed any help kickin' ass.

You can be in it for the love of the game and still take roids

I think you underestimate some people's competitive desires, even if they do it for the love of the game.

How does Griffey's body suggest he didn't use?

Fritz

I'm always amused that everyone assumes that people that use steroids are freaks of nature.

Alex Sanchez was the first guy busted for steroids. Come on, people.

And don't kid yourself, I met griffey in 06 and he was a big, barrell chested mother fucker.

He was never Bonds, but Griffey was a big dude.

I just don't see any reason why he wouldn't have taken steroids in 01-03 to try and recover from those injuries.

Except for when he was getting injured left and right, and loved the game so much, and respected the investment the Reds made so much, that he'd do whatever he reasonably could to get back on the field

Don't kid yourself, a close friend of mine is family friends with the Griffeys, and Jr. is anything but a typical "big, barrell chested mother fucker."
