I'm thinking about a lean on Clottey tonight against Pacman. +475 for a win, +750 for a KO, +1000 for a decision. Any thoughts?

Granted, Clottey was beaten by Cotto, who was then worked to shit by Manny, but Clottey was working Cotto in that fight. Clottey's also never been KO'd.

I'm going to lay $100 on Clottey decision +1000 and $50 on Pacquiao by decision +140 as a hedge. This fight goes the distance either way, so I like this play.

I do not see this fight going this distance.

Book? I've found better numbers out there on both plays.

I'm in, Clottey by decision, even though I don't expect it to have any chance. I also did not expect Mine That Bird to have any chance in last year's Kentucky Derby. That worked out fine for me.

My numbers were from BetUS

Waiting to see if they tick up closer to the fight, otherwise I'll lock in soon

I think Clottey's defense keeps him in it either way, so I like the decision plays

I had a +1200 and a +160 respectively, fwiw. Doesn't mean anything if you prefer to stay with one out.

Clottey has tenacious D and a rock for a head

Boxing needs this fight to go the distance.

That was the extent of my capping for this fight.

The only reason I bet it was because were having a PPV party in an hour.

I gon get my drink on

Basically broke even (lost 8 bucks)

Happy with the way I capped this one

Congrats to the winners. I think this fight showed that Mayweather would have beaten the shit out of Pacqiaou.

Manny would KO Mayweather. Sugar Shane is tougher and would give the better fight.

Clottey is a legit boxer.

Mayweather would get us all excited for a big fight and bore the fuck out of us during the fight

I can watch a John Ruiz fight for that

It's obvious to me that Mayweather is afraid to fight Pac because why else would he kill the Mayweather/Pac fight over a blood test?

Which is why I'm hoping Shane drops Floyd and we get Pacquiao-Mosley

The best defensive skills of the generation may not excite many people, but much in the same way a masterfully pitched 1-0 baseball game can excite those who appreciate it, that defense can be exciting as well.

There are many people firmly entrenched in each camp, but I am on the side that faults Pacqiuao for the fight falling apart. Why not submit to the blood testing? Got something to hide? It was already proven that Pacqiauo's refusal to have blood drawn within 30 days before the fight was bullshit, as it had happened previously.

I'm a big fan of Floyd. He's my pound for pound guy.

But if a blanket statement can be made that Floyd would easily beat Pac then who cares about the blood test right?

Make the fight happen Floyd.

Madman81

After how the fight was negotiated, I don't think it's possible for Money and his camp to back down from their requests. I can't possibly blame Mayweather more than Pacqiaou for the fight not happening; how can we blame the guy who wants the absolute most in testing, ensuring a fair fight, more than the guy who refuses to submit to that testing?

I don't see why it's such a hassle for Manny to submit to stringent testing. Why make that a deal breaker? Why not prove in an era of doubt that the two fighters involved in the biggest match since the scandal of PEDs in sports unequivocally that you are clean? Just a head scratcher.

Clottey didn't care about testing......

It's a cluster fuck no doubt but my personal opinion is that Floyd does not want to fight Pac plain and simple. My opinion could be a pile of shit but that is my hunch. At the end of the day, Floyd held up the fight by demanding the blood work. If he doesn't demand the blood work, we all watch Floyd/Pac on PPV tonight from Dallas.

Madman81

Fair enough. I can just as easily say Manny held up the fight by refusing to agree to the testing, but overall, I simply disagree on the general subject. It's a pointless debate that only a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight could bring to a conclusion. Hopefully that ends up taking place. I suggest we take it to the general boxing thread if there is anything else to add.

if Floyd was the scared fighter he wouldn't have scheduled a fight against Sugar Shane Mosely. Your statement could go both ways - If Pac would have agreed to the blood work, we would all have been watching Floyd/Pac last night.

How does Floyd agreeing to fight Mosely = Floyd not being afraid to fight Pac?

But I do understand the "both ways" statement.

But I do understand the "both ways" statement.

Because Mosley is the toughest fighter either has fought in their careers. Mayweather could have just taken a softy from his own camp the way Pac just did, but instead just chooses to fight an elite guy to show that he is the man, the more talented boxer, not afraid of competition and that Pac needs him and not vice versa.

Namaste
03-14-2010, 12:44 PM
Yeah no question that Mosley is a tougher fight than Clottey but I think the Floyd camp is concerned that Pac's style presents a big problem to Floyd.

Madman81
03-14-2010, 10:25 PM
You also can't really compare scheduling Clottey versus scheduling Mosley straight up, as the Pac camp moved to secure a fight as quickly as possible, and thus scheduled their fight before Mosley's scheduled bout fell apart.
