Congrats to the Hawk!

Can't believe Blyleven is still not in. Also, I thought Alomar would get in first ballot.

This contingent of voters that refuse to vote for first-ballot guys need to be axed... it's getting absolutely stupid anymore. Obviously it didn't affect Blyleven, but it did have an impact on Alomar.

Rickey Henderson was the test... I maintain that anybody that DIDN'T vote for Henderson should have their vote taken away

Pretty surprised Larkin only got 50%

Congrats to the Hawk

I continue to maintain that Dawson falls in the "Just Short" category, along with a Jim Rice.

Now, the baseball gods can strike me down, Reali, but guess what? I didn’t vote for anybody in the baseball hall of fame this year. Ya know why? To me…the first ballot is sacred. I think Roberto Alomar is an eventual Hall of Famer, not the first time. Edgar Martinez, designated hitter, eventually, but not the first time. Same goes for maybe Fred McGriff. As far as Blyleven and Dawson…if they haven’t gotten in for years and years I cannot vote them in now. Ripken, Rickey Henderson and Gwynn. They are true first ballot Hall of Famers, but I didn’t vote for anybody, throw me out of the Baseball Writers. I don’t care.

Career .806 OPS, good for 362nd all time.
165th all time in Slugging percentage
Not in the top 1,000 all time in On Base Percentage.

I still don't understand how Dawson is in the Hall and yet a guy like Dwight Evans couldn't get more than 10% of the vote. Oh well.

8 time all star, ROY, top 2 in MVP voting 3 times, 8 gold gloves

not saying he should necessarily be in, but I'm sure those numbers are what catch the majority of the voters' eyes

I understand why he got in, I suppose, I just think it's dumb.

I feel like he gets overrated because he won his MVP on a last place team. Sportswriters who refuse to vote for anyone who isn't in the playoff hunt for MVP find it just unbelievable that he won it on a last place team, so they give him extra credit for that.

I think it's ridiculous that someone isnt good enough to get in the first few times but then all of a sudden because of various circumstances down the line they are good enough? No thanks...I set the limit at 3 times and if you arent good enough then forget it.

Baseball writers are a fickle bunch. They often take time to come around to things. Just look at Mariotti's comment there. He has a vote. He is dumber than dog shit but he has a vote.

Mariotti is another idiot along the lines of Colin Cowherd. How does this guy get a vote?

This is also stupid because he should not have won the MVP that year either.
