I think best would be to let him get a few more months in AA, if for nothing else to delay arbitration.

AAA

It's gone but it's truth.

He gains nothing by going to AAA from AA. Unless facing a multitude of age 30 or older pitchers most of which were never good enough to make the show is somehow now a development tool.

I would rather him stay in the Southern League with the younger pitching staffs which throughout have more live arms and better stuff.

Bobbob1313

Those 30 year olds know how to pitch. Most young pitchers at the minor league level are working on developing pitches or sustaining themselves to later innings. The 30 year olds are closer to the majors than whatever live armed 22 year old he'll face in AA because they are more complete.

You are the only fucking person who thinks this, how do you not see that?

Mainge

Who cares? It's fucking Todd. It's not like anyone takes anything he says seriously. He's the way he is for a reason and it won't change no matter how wrong he's proven over and over again.

Let it go, Bobbob. This is a fight you cannot win.

But still we must fight on, Mainge. We must!

Because I am not the only person that thinks this. Most people think the way I do about this.

We relocated AAA to NOLA so we actually get to use it for development.

It's not that hard to conceptualize. Albuquerque = bad ; New Orleans = good.

Many in baseball organizations apparently, since few hitting prospects see time in AAA before they move on to MLB.

And I bet Beef $38.42 that the Marlins will have a new AAA affiliate in 2011.

Have you ever actually looked? Cuz, that's completely and utterly false

In 2008, out of the top 12 hitters, only 2 haven't seen significant AAA time. One is Elvis Andrus. The other is Mike Moustakas...who spent last year in A+.

I'd go on but I'm not going to waste my time

Cameron Maybin was in AAA. We use our Triple a team now, Todd. Jesus,..

Was curiuos, looks like he's still struggling against LHP

BB/K v.s. lefties in NOLA: 0.33, 2/6 (30 PA, 6.7%/20%)
Against righties: 1.88, 15/8 (83 PA, 18.1%/9.6%)

Small sample size obviously but it's also coming off a year where he put up 0.64 BB/K v.s. lefties, 2.11 against righties. At least this year he's showing power though (2 of his 3 hrs have come off lefties).

Gaby Sanchez will still see plenty of PA coming off the bench

Through 219 plate appearances, Logan's ground ball rate (http://www.statcorner.com/batter.php?id=489149) is 51% (http://www.minorleaguesplits.com/cgi-bin/pl.cgi). Logan is not a speedster. This is a problem.

Logan's not going to maintain that .360 BABIP in the majors if his GB rate is anywhere near 50%, and his average is going to drop from the .324 it is in AAA right now. He may still hit for power when he puts the ball in the air, but he's not doing that nearly enough. He'll still walk a bit, although not as much as he does now when pitchers attack him more because he's just beating the ball into the ground. But his GB rate is going to really, really hurt his chances of becoming the .850ish OPS player this team needs. It won't be impossible for him, because exceptions exist to the "if you're a slow guy with a ground ball rate around 50%, you're in trouble" rule, but the organization would be counting on Logan to be one of those exceptions to the rule.

Logan Morrison is day-to-day after fouling a ball off his foot in the eighth inning last night, and is being held out of the starting lineup tonight.

Banged up (http://zephyrsbaseball.mlblogs.com/)

That's what I thought. He was limping around pretty bad after he hit his foot and really didn't run that hard on a groundout and then he was replaced in the field. If he's day-to-day, hopefully it's not too bad.

I swear he has more fouled-off-his-body and collision-with-a-runner injuries than anyone I've ever seen ever ever

Yeah, the ball hit off his foot was actually the second ball that hit him yesterday. He was hit in the right thigh by a pitch and was rolling around the home plate area a few innings earlier. I honestly was surprised that he stayed in after he hit his foot. He limped back to the plate to finish his AB.
