Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi told FOXSports.com on Sunday night that the chances of a Roy Halladay trade are "very slim."

"We've said that we would listen, but that we would have to be motivated and 'wowed,'" Ricciardi said. "Right now we haven't been. I've said all along my gut tells me I won't be. I still stand by that." Regardless of whether a deal seems promising, Ricciardi obviously has incentive to make statements like this. That makes the claim essentially meaningless.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Phillies aren't willing to part with Kyle Drabek, J.A. Happ and outfielder Dominic Brown in return for Roy Halladay.

That's supposedly the offer that the Jays made. The two sides are still believed to be talking, and the Phillies remain the top candidates to pull off a deal if one gets done. They'd likely be willing to send either Drabek or Happ to Toronto, but not both. Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald, Michael Taylor and Lou Marson are other candidates to be included as a third player. It's very funny. Go to the Phillies board and they are split down the middle about dealin Happ and Drabek. Some are screaming bloody murder do it while others arent.

I'm all for prospect love but it's ROY FUCKING HALLADAY

Happ is a middle of the rotation starter at best. Drabek is probably going to end up a middle of the rotation starter. And he definitely isn't going to be roy-fucking-halladay.

Brown loses a lot of value if he has to move to RF, and unless he's taken major strides this year this might have to happen, and he doesn't have much of a high end potential, just very likely to become an average to good player.

The only guy I would really worry about losing is Taylor if I'm the phillies, he's just continued to make massive strides every year. And from all accounts they can get it done without him.

I'd tell the Jays to list whatever 3-4 specs they want outside of Taylor and just let them circle who they want. The phillies core is old, and basically all of them outside of Utley are a FA after '11. They need to win now with a focus on this core. Having Drabek and Happ in the rotation? Who cares, they're more or less replaceable. Those two likely won't make a new core after Utley/Howard/Rollins/Hamels/ect, they're just role players. And considering the Phillies payroll, you could probably say the same about Brown, that he's replaceable. For a team like us it's different but we're not the Phillies. Halladay matches their core and would allow them to be dominant for a few more years.

The funniest part about all of this is Philly acts like they are a small market team who would be crushed if they made this move. Unlike most teams Philly, offers FA arbitration and drafts GOOD. They could easily replace Dominic Brown and Kyle Drabek. In fact, the only reason why they drafted Drabek is because other teams did not wanna match the asking price for him.

The Blue Jays want Happ,Drabek, and Brown however would be ok with Taylor and another prospect

The Phillies counter with Happ,Carrasco,Jason Donald and Lou Marson

A fair offer would be JA Happ,Kyle Drabek,Michael Taylor and either Lou Marson or Jason Donald. Which will probably be the deal when it happens.

The Marlins really need to take advantage of the down time and make a move.
God would be expecting a first pitch breaking ball in the dirt because humans love to disappoint him.

1:04pm: ESPN.com's Buster Olney hears that dialogue between the Phillies and Blue Jays has become angry as they discuss prospects.
"I will not give you Brown!"
                  "Well your team sucks!"
"I fucked your wife last night!"
"I'll let you fuck her whenever you want if you just take J.A. Happ, Carlos Carrasco, Michael Taylor."

Man, it would be cool if the Red Sox got Halladay. Like, really really cool.

That's mainly why I'm not bothered by what they would be giving up.

Just saw on ESPN that Peter Gammons says that the Red Sox really don't want to trade Westmoreland and that the deal is extremely inlikely.

Here's a quick recap of all the Roy Halladay rumors we heard yesterday: J.P. Ricciardi's self-imposed deadline passed, but the rumors persist; the Jays continue to demand Kyle Drabek in any trade; the Phillies are divided on how much to give up for Doc; the Rangers are still involved, and so are the Red Sox, who were more aggressive than ever yesterday and may be prepared to deal Clay Buchholz and other top prospects for Halladay. Got it? Now for today's rumors:

                              * Michael Silverman and Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald report that the Blue Jays have turned down a Red Sox proposal, but the Red Sox haven't turned any offers down from the Jays.
                              * Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times hears from a source who says the Dodgers aren't willing to part with the talent it would take to acquire Halladay or Cliff Lee. Clayton Kershaw and Chad Billingsley are off-limits.
                              * Jon Heyman of SI.com talked to a number of executives around the league who believe Halladay will be dealt, probably to the Phillies. As one GM says "there's no putting the genie back in the bottle."
                              * Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears that the Yankees are still "in the mix" for Halladay. GM Brian Cashman spoke with Ricciardi yesterday, something he does regularly. The Jays would want Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes from the Yanks for Halladay if the Yankees start pursuing him aggressively.
                              * Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun hears that the Blue Jays have found a new team president to take over after the season. Until then Paul Beeston is very much a part of the team's decisions, including any possible Halladay trades.
Go to Boston and take the next 5 World Series titles.
